he means your starting hands should be 3 to an 8 low. but not something like 876. if you make a low starting with 876 you are likely to lose to an 86x low.
this is how it works. 8762A loses to 86543. 86x beats 87x. |

AAAA234, or AA22334 or AA23444, or AAA2344, etc.
All of these give the same hand ranking, which ends up as a five card hand of A-A-4-3-2.
Another way to look at this...
If your 7-card hand contains at least 5 different ranks, your "best" 5-card hand will be "no pair".
If your 7-card hand contains exactly 4 different ranks, your "best" 5-card hand will be "one pair".
If your 7-card hand contains exactly 3 different ranks, your "best" 5-card hand will be "two pair".
If your 7-card hand contains exactly 2 different ranks, your "best" 5-card hand will be "full house". |
