It's official - Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld is stepping down. With the success of the Dems, I guess he didn't want to be hauled before Congress again. It's definitely time although I admire the man's tenacity and the way he would deal the with press corps.

All I can say is that things are only going to slowly but surely keep getting worse.

The Demoratic party is just as corrupt as the Republican party.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and these political pigs just keep getting fatter and more powerful, while we the people slowly but surely become less and less influential in deciding who truly leads our nation.

The poor will continue to remain poor, and the rich will just keep getting richer.

The middle class is slowly but surely disappearing and eventually it will become completely non existent.

All in all, it's more of just the same old, same old, in Washington, and we the sheep er I mean the people, will just continue to be led astray with all of these 'distractions' that are ultimately designed to keep us disillusioned.

George Washington and Abraham Lincoln would be turning in their graves if they could see what has become of their beloved 'United States'......
We are no longer the United States.....we are the Divided States.

The "The Demoratic party is just as corrupt as the Republican party" argument is too simplistic, I think. I mean, I agree both have their share of corruption (and that big business really runs the show, power corrupts, etc.) but it's too cynical to say they are the same.

Tell the thousands of dead Americans and possibly hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis that there's no difference between Reps. and Dems. They'd probably disagree, if they were alive to have an opinion.

Oookaaay....Harry Truman was a DEMOCRAT...and he ordered the destruction of thousands of men, women and children in Hiroshima -w- NUCLEAR weapons. Confused

And thousands of Americans died in WW2 as under this same Democratic President as well....

So by your own example, I guess that those thousands of dead Japanese would assume to think that there is a difference between the Reps. and the Dems. if they were still alive today then eh? Rolling Eyes

Democrats and Republicans have switched sides over the last half century. The process was spurred by racial integration and lot of people in both parties switched sides. That was when Republicans adopted the code phrase "states rights" as a way to condone prejudice. The phrase is still used today when trying to keep or put in place prejudicial laws. Today the Republicans are trying to attack gays instead of minorities though -- at least overtly.

So don't play the equivocation with something someone did 60 years ago to what is going on today.

And don't compare the two parties and claim they are the same without having anything to back it up with. The Republican had the "Southern Strategy". What did the Democrats have that equated to that?

You know who says the Democrats are as bad as the Republicans? Republicans who have no good goddamn argument for their own party other than "they're bad too." Which isn't even true.
