I've never really played alot of limit hold em. I've tried my hand at it here and there at lower stakes for the most part (.25.50) and I've actualyl had some decent success, but I really haven't played enough to know if that was just pure luck or if I'm actually a good player.
Anyhow, I was curious as to a few things in limit HE. What kind of bankroll management should I be looking at. I'm sure it would be a lot different than NL, since the variance and swings in LHE are so much less. Also, what kind of strategies should I be employing? I read Strasse's article but I've found I've been paid off extremely well with sets on lower pocket pairs so far. Those have seemed to make me the most money. I play a lot of Ax sooted cards as well, but any tips or help would be appreciated.
I have heard LHE is a GREAT way to build a bankroll. I have a decent amount already but yeah any help would be great! |

LHE is a great way to build a bankroll, but from what you've said you're playing way too loose.
Only play low pps when there are 4+ callers ahead of you, otherwise fold them. AXs is another hand you can't really play out of position. Don't call a raise with it, but if people are just flat calling preflop then you can join in. You need 2pair or better, or a flush draw to take it past the flop though.
There's a couple of books you can read: Winning Low Limit Hold'Em by Lee Jones and Small Stakes Hold'Em by Miller, Sklansky & Malmuth
And read the stickied post at the top of this section, there's links to loads of useful LHE strategy discussions |

| Hey fire, are you talking about playing low PP's for a raise when you mention the 4+ callers? Otherwise I think that's way too tight. In late position I actually think it's too tight even when you do have to coldcall a raise. |

Oh sorry, should have said I play a lot of those cards if I can get in cheaply since I know I will be drawing to the nuts if I hit.
I play a very tight game in general.
What limits should I be looking at playing? |

| I'd say it's a good idea to start out at .25/.5 and then move up quite quickly if you feel ready for it and your BR allows. |

| .25/.50 and .50/$1 are basically the same skill level. I'd recommend playing at either of these if you are a beginner. Try a full 9 handed game and just play strong hands and play them strong. |

The Limits you should play depend on how much money is in your bankroll. 300-500 Big Bets for the level you want to play. If you want to be a long time winning player, you need to have enough money in your account to withstand the variance swings so that it will not affect your game when you go on a losing streak.
I think there is a noticeable difference between .25/.50 and .50/1. I sure notice the difference by using GT+ and pokertracker. I do not ever think I have seen a Tight Aggressive(TA) player at .25/.50, but I have sat down at a .50/1 table on FT, loaded up PT and GT+ and there were 3 (TA) Eagles at the same table...
I am a slightly losing player at .25/.50. I only have about 2000 hands, so this could easily be short term variance.
At .50/1 I have done quite well averaging 3.47 bb/100 hands. I think at this level, people have learned habbits that you can exploit to a certain degree, as well as using aggression to your advantage. To many people this is the start of real money and a 15 dollar pot means something to most people at this level.
If you have at least a $300 roll, give .50/1 a shot...That would be my recomendation. |
