I have read several threads about online poker being rigged and I would like to put my two cents in. Sorry if this is the wrong topic to post this.
First off I would like to talk about PP as many people think this site is rigged. This in fact is the farthest from the truth as could be, for the simple reason that PP has the most vigilant policies and tactics out there to fight against collusion, pokerbots (winholdem.com), and any other methods of cheating out there. They are also one of the most regulated because of the fact that they are a publicly traded company.
The reason for so many bad beats on this site is due to the fact that it is the largest site and therefore has the largest amount of new (bad) palyers out there. You can't get mad at someone for winning a hand that they shouldn't have been in in the first place if they didn't know they shouldn't have been in it.
I'm sorry but I feel that these are the people you should be learning to play against. And if not than why the he#$ are you playing the game in the first place? If you are constantly trying to play people on the same level as you, than you are in fact just relying on the luck of the cards to determine whether or not you will win. If you can't outplay a sucker than you can't really play the game now can you.
I'm not trying to berrate anybody but it seems to me the bad beats I have read about and written myself are usually due to the fact that you and I have totally misplayed our hands.
I used to be that guy that would put the call statiion all in and get mad when he would outdraw me, well you know what shame on me I knew he would call my all in. I in effect gave myself the bad beat by giving that chump the chance to take my money.
Last I would like to say that I agree with the general consensus that there are better players on this site. If that is what you want then more power to you, but I personally want to make as much loot as I can and that entails learning how to take on the suckers, call stations, maniacs, and the general idiots out there.
Sorry if this offends anyone. |

| I would like to add that there are plenty of suckers on this site to take loot off of, and that I in no way was endorsing the leaving of this site and going to another one. |

Bad beats are a fact of life, crap happens.... in this and any other game you care to mention.
how many times has a football team been beaten by a team that shouldn't even be in the same division?
Yes I moan when a bad beat happens (perhaps for more then 5 seconds!!) but its soon forgotten about and then I get on with it.
How many people have had good beats and not given them a seconds thought?, we all play the odd hand that we know we shouldn't for whatever reason and sometimes we win and bust someone who played perfectly.......
I guess the above won't lessen the frustration of the loser but it is food for thought!!

I agree that bad beats are a part of the game, but you have to start wondering if there are any "outside" influences when it happens over and over. Not in just the low limit games but the larger tourneys also. ie: the last three tourneys I've played , in the last week: I end up all in AA against 86, 66 comes up on the turn and river, all in w QQ against 34 the guy flops a straight. A high flush against on flop against A 10 the guy gets a boat. These arent isolated, is it just my bad luck? I was certainly ahead w my starting hands. this has been typical for the past 3 months. I hate to complain and used to disimss the people who did, but ...it at least has to make you wonder. |

There are always situations that will give credence to conspiracy theories, JKF, Roswell etc....
Look at it from this point of view, if this site was not legit (Fair) and it was proved, the owners would be in serious hot water (prison terms) and the site would be dead, killing all the investment etc.
As said yes you will have bad beats but you will also have good ones, I myself have had some unbelievable ones both good and bad, unfortunately I only remember the bad ones clearly..... as we all do.
If you were heads up in the World Series on the final table and you started with AA for the All in and you got beat would you say the other guy has stacked the deck?... no you wouldn't but these bad beats also happen there!!.
I just think you have had some bad luck, but with luck it will change, it tends to even itself out over time.

Look, last guy I had saying this ("oh, it *must* be rigged") to me thought I was a cheat because I handed his ass to him in an SNG. The last two hands we played, I beat him (both all in preflop) with 92(os) vs 88 [stealing his blind, obviously] and 34(os) vs AK [pot committed, as he was crippled from last hand]. My odds of winning both of those back to back are in the 9% range.
But for how unlikely me winning those two hands was, he forgot about the three bad beats he laid on me that resulted in him not busting out out of the money - his AJ beating my KK, his A9 beating my AT (both all in preflop) and him getting all in on the turn, and beating me with a gutshot. And he conveniently forgot that my good play managed to make sure I had him covered when all in, even despite the huge bad beats he put on me.
It's hella easy to be sure it's all rigged or crooked when you only remember the bad beats that go against you, and not the ones you laid, or when you forget that even a lowly 72(os) beats AK one time in three. |

Just my two cents. At my local poker room, bad beats happen almost every other hand. Granted, it is 1/2 limit holdem, but it all just comes down to any two card syndrome. Everyone does it at one time or another. Sometimes it pays off and we think about what great players we are, and other times it blows up in our face, so of course those times are rigged. If you can't take losing, it is probably not the right game for you.
Again, just my opinion. No two hole cards are unbeatable, but I don't know how many times I see people take AK all the way to the river without improving. I went all in at a sit and go w/AK cause I was getting really short stacked and the BB called with Q9 d. He paired his 9 and I busted out. Is that rigged that an Ace or King didn't come? No. Thats the game.
