I was talking with Riddim earlier and we started talking about live play. It reminded me of the best live play decision I think I've ever made.
It happened at a $300max 5/5 NL table. I'm sitting with $420 and I'm in the SB. A MP Raiser, Player A(~$500) raises to $20. The CO+1, Player B(~$1000) makes the call. It folds around to me. I look down at 33. I make the call and the BB folds.
Pot: $60 ($5 taken for rake and jackpots)
Flop: AQ8 rainbow.
I check. Player A bets $50. Player B raises to $160. Pot: $270
I knew Player A was weak. He wasn't as confident as he usually was in his continuation bets when he hit and I was sure the best he had was QK. Player B's raise I read as a weak draw. It was consistent with previous betting patterns, and I have played with this player a lot.
I raise allin for $400 total. Pot: $670. Player A folds quickly.
Player B thinks about it for a long while. He says "I think you have A8s." Getting no reaction out of me, he makes the call saying "I have outs, and I'm running good." This scared me a little because he was a total luckbox and was up over $700 for the day mostly by sucking out.
Player B calls $240. Pot: $910.
The Showdown: I flip up 33. He shows J9o. He has a gutshot...with overs he didn't count on.
Turn: 5 River: 5.
I take in $890, tip the dealer $20. Player A claims to have folded the exact hand I put him on KQ. Later on that night this player gave me his stack when I turned the nuts and c/r him.
What's your most memorable hand? Where you made a huge decision or just took down a huge pot, maybe it was a huge laydown. |

my most memorable hand was in my 2nd live game
im a lil below average with 800 chips i think
blinds 25/50
in the cut off im dealt: 10 9
i manage to get in cheaply and there are 3 or 4 of us in the pot
flop J 10 Q
1st player bets about 250, 2nd guy calls and i move all in with my straight flush draw and middle pair
the 1st player (who knocked me out of the last tourny i played because his 10 high beat my pair of 7s.. board paired kings and aces)
the 2nd guy was a middle aged man playing really loosely
they both call, 1st 1 has pocket aces, 2nd 1 has K3 for an inside straight draw lol and leaves me with less outs as my 9 wil giv him a straight
turn 10
river Q
i went on to win the tourny |
