well he claims to be a professional poker player, u see many adverts about him claiming to be a top pro.. so the fact that his tournament cashes doesnt match his claims just sys it all. its true he probably doesnt enter as many events but come on.. u expect a world champion to cash more times than twice a yr |

| And just to be clear, I'm not sticking up for Moneymaker. Aside what he did for poker, I don't really even like him... But you can't base tournament cashes on whether or not he's a pro. Most pros make their living at cash games, and there's no record for that. Also, someone else said something about him owning a business? Maybe he's not a pro... I've seen the PokerStars commercials. I recall them putting under his name he's a world champion or something like that. They have actors saying he still comes around his favorite bar from time to time... But I don't recall him ever claiming to be a top pro... |

Junk-
If memory serves me correctly, I believe Moneymaker entered nearly every event in the 2005 WSOP. He was out to prove he was "no fluke", as everyone calls him. I'm not sure how many cashes he had, but I don't think he did that great.
That being said, just strictly passing along information here. I think the guy gets a bad rap, and I think it's unfortunate. He may not be an Ivey, Chan, or Ungar, but he's better than 99.9% of the tools who play for fake chips online and call him a "donk".
Has anyone ever seen the chat box when Money800 gets on PokerStars? The poor guy can't even play without hundreds of "luckbox", etc. comments. Give him a break. |

| What's stupid is 95% of those people wouldn't even be playing poker if it wasn't for him... |

I have to agree with you on this one junkbutton.
I never saw Moneymaker making any sort of claims of being the best. Hell, it isn't his fault that they want to pay him to be in poker commercials. I'd do the commercials too if they would offer me that dough.
I'll bet that Moneymaker is actually smart enough to know that his poker fame won't last long, so he is probably investing most of his time, money and energy into his own business. |

What did he win, $2.5 million? Maybe he knows he's not that great and stays out of the tournaments. If he has his own business and a decent financial advisor, he can pretty comfortable if he has no mortgage and major bills left.
If I ever won a decent amount of money, I'd focus on paying everything off, putting a lot of side, and playing a few tournaments but nothing out of control.

That sounds like exactly what he is probably doing. Good advice. |
