We're seeing lots and lots of new players on FTP and the forums. No doubt in part to the recent signing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.

While we're happy to have you there are a few etiquette tips we ask you to follow to ensure the forums remain a great place to share ideas, improve your game, or just kill a few minutes while waiting for your wife to get ready before you spend a glorious Saturday afternoon at Home Depot looking at wallpaper samples and bathroom fixtures.

1. DON’T POST IN ALL CAPS. IT MAKES IT HARD FOR PEOPLE TO READ YOUR POST AND JUST PLAIN PISSES PEOPLE OFF. BY THE WAY, WE ALL AGREE THAT PHIL IVEY IS THE GREATEST PLAYER ALIVE, BUT MUST YOU SHOUT IT?

2. Post threads in appropriate forums. It’s great that you like to watch college basketball, but that has nothing to do with ‘Texas Holdem Poker’. Stick your predictions for March madness in the ‘Players Lounge’ forum, where all non-poker related threads go.

3. Don’t multi-post. Say it, don't spray it. Pick a forum (see tip #2) and create a thread there. I know what you’re thinking, “If I post my message in 3 or 4 forums it has a better chance of being seen, right?” Maybe, but only slightly. Many people surf the forum using the ‘View posts since last visit’ link, so don't worry, your post will be seen.

4. Don’t abuse, bash or slander anyone. If the whole point of your post or thread is to put someone down or call them a homo it doesn't belong in the forums. C’mon, that’s just not cool.

5. If you disagree with someone, explain why. Provide an alternate theory or suggestion. Don’t just call them a **** moron. That's just rude, and it seldom leads to good discussion.

6. If you want advice on a hand post the HH (hand history). Trust me, everyone prefers HH’s over people describing the hand. HH's are easier to read, and quicker.

7. If you happen to be related to Frist, Leach or Goodlatte, keep it to yourself.

8. Online poker is not rigged. Get over it. It seems every few days there’s a “Online Poker is Rigged” thread, and it always plays out the same way. Nobody agrees with the poster, and he or she just ends up looking like a total newb. Paired flops, action flops, bad beats and AA vs. KK happen all the time in live poker.

9. Take a little time to make your post reader-friendly. It’s not a thesis, but it should at least be legible. After all, it is a form of communication. Spelling mistakes, run on sentences/paragraphs and lack of punctuation hinder communication.

10. Don't spam. Above everything else, people hate spam and spammers. People hate spam more than wet public toilet seats, or child sponsor infomercials.

11. No Paypal transfers. Paypal just plain sucks. They don't wanna be a part of online poker, fine. We don't need'em. Also, people have been scammed in the past. With Paypal you can reverse transfers. With Full Tilt Poker player transfer feature you cannot. So, he or she sends you money via Paypal, you send him or her money in return via Full Tilt Poker's player transfer feature. He or she now reverses the Paypal transfer. Bye-bye money.

12. No begging. That makes you a bum, even if you don't smell like urine. Same goes for asking for stakes. That's begging. If you need to borrow money from a fellow forum member use the PM feature.

13. Keep your posts clean. Filthy, disgusting pics and jokes are funny, but only to some people. The others find them, well, filthy and disgusting. Also, many of us surf the forums while at work. Getting caught looking at porn on company time can land someone in hot water.

Again, please respect our forums and follow these 13 simple etiquette tips. They make the forum a better place.

Thank you, and welcome to the Full Tilt Poker forums.
