Does anybody ever watch a round or two of hands before sitting down at a table online. I can see how it would be useful to maybe pick up on whether the table's agressive or tight, or maybe a betting pattern on one of the players.

I do it alot myself to gauge the play of the table. If it's overly aggressive I move on, if it's more passive I sit down. Also, I like to check the style of players when I'm on the button and in the BB.

Not really, though I usually wait until I'm in the BB, and watch while I wait.

I usually watch two or three hands before sitting. It gives me a chance to check player notes on people at the table and see the general "feel" of the table. I do this at live B&M when possible as well. If not, then as was said above, wait for the BB before playing.
