But very true... Everyone is pissed at the Republicans because of the gaming ban... Check out pokerplayersalliance.com's (or maybe .org - can't remember) list of representatives who voted for the ban... The Democrats aren't innocent over this.
It doesn't matter who runs what... Our government is **** either way. |

True enough, but when they have split control then they have to fight to get any legislation through...this delays the process and reduces the amount of really, really bad legislation. heck, when forced to work with they other party they manage to get good legislation out every once-in-a-while. |

Anybody hear Congress (wo)man Shelley Berkley on the Circuit? Nothing really new but she does express her opinions on how low-handed Frist and company are. Interesting to hear anyways:

| If the democrats were in power we would not be at war and we would not be worrying about the online gambling ban. The republicans have been behind this bill the whole time. Then they attached the language to a port security bill so it was guaranteed to pass. If it was up to Republicans, they would ban everything and you would spend your whole life working and supporting these crooks. Oh wait, we already do that! |

Yeah, blame the Republicans all you want, but in 4 years, you'll be whining about some bad law the Dems snuck through in an underhanded way.
Like griffinlord said, things work best when there's split control (and the government really can't do all that much to enact new laws). Hmm, maybe there's a lesson in that - something like when the government (either party) stops sticking its nose into running the country, the country does pretty well. |

The most intelligent thing i've heard is that we are far better off when the house, senate, and executive branch aren't controlled by 1 party.
No matter what side of the aisle you are on it is dangerous when one party has that much power.
Those that agree with every single stance that their party of choice has really scare me.
The reason Republicans have fallen so out of favor with me is the bible thumping.
When I start losing choices I can make for myself because some politician is quoting the bible and trying to turn my state or this country into the United States of Christianity, I get pretty upset and want that person out.
And no i'm not just talking about the interent gambling issue, i'm talking about the obsurb alcohol laws on Sundays, i'm talking about how every state that boarders mine had a lottery and citizens from my state drove to these states to buy lottery tickets but instead of keeping that money in the state we had politicians talking about how jesus wouldn't buy a lottery ticket.
My main issue right now is religion. I hate it, it dosen't belong in politics and it should never hinder any part of my daily routine. I'm a law abiding citizen, I care about other people, I do not need religion to help me make choices during the day and certainly don't want it making decisions for me, like if I can buy beer on Sunday or not.
You can spin it, twist it, anything you want with it but Republicans are for more guilty of trying to turn this country into the Church of Christianity at the United States. And I will vote accordingly. |

| You have to be a concrete brained, closed minded simpleton to vote for one side and then there's everyone else who votes for the other, which ranges from having a pulse to brain surgeon-- which gives unity to the first and makes em feel all warm and cozy like a Chevy truck commercial. |

Yeah, I hate to think of where we would be with either Al Gore or John Kerry as Commander in Chief! Those two instill a lot of confidence.
Don't get me wrong, I am not thrilled with the current President and much of what has transpired, but I blame the 4th estate for a lot of why this war has not been fought the way it should be. I say let there be a 60 day TOTAL media black-out and let our troops do what they need to do to kick azz to get the job done!
People need to remember this is a war of wills.
The question is: Who has the stronger will? |

I know the nineties were so tough on America. A great economy, not having loved ones killed in Iraq who had nothing to do with 9-11. We didn't pay three bucks a gallon for gas so the president and his rich partners could get even more rich, and we could play online poker. Sounds like a good world to me! |

Yes, during much of 90s this country was fat, dumb and blissfully ignorant as to what the terrorists were doing. Do you not remember the 1993 World Trade Center bombing in New York, the 1996 bombing of the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in East Africa, and the attack of the destroyer USS Cole in Aden, Yemen, in 2000. All of these "smaller" attacks against U.S. interests culminating in 9/11.
And, as far as your comment about "the president and his rich partners" getting even more rich, you obviously don't know much of what you write.
And, my friend, as you are so concerned about just playing online poker, when the next major attack comes, and it is not a matter of IF, but WHEN, you may not be so concerned about the insignificant things in life.
Peace, JaneGrace |

| Why are you on a site playing online poker if you're republican heros voted to ban online gambling? Keep trying to scare the American public, but this fight was against Al Qaeda and Osama bin forgotten, not Iraq. Iraq did nothing to us, but we are killing their people because of one man Saddam Hussien. I hope no one comes after us because of the decisions George Bush has made. |

You assume a lot, htrain, and the more you speak, the more you reveal about yourself.
I believe in the freedom to choose how I live my life including playing online poker.
In that, you and I are no different.
Cheers! |
