| so i do a player search to see if one of my friends is playing & hes waiting at an $11 sng, so i jump on the list, then when the table pops up, he ? why im in omaha hi/lo!!! just then i realized it was not a nlhe table- OOPS! anyway, i am familiar with the rules of omaha, although dont understand the low too well. Well, i end up winning the whole damn sng to my surprise, i caught some good cards early which helped, i just pretty much played it like i would play holdem, not really paying attention to the low, im not foolish enough to play it again unless i read up, but i may try more omaha hi, unfortunately i assume the omaha sng tables take a lot longer to fill up then hold em. |

| That's a good strategy... I'll have to try that sometime. Forget the low, and go for the high... |

It's hard to do well in O8B unless you manage to scoop some pots (win both the hi and the low). Good starting hands should give you a good chance of accomplihing this. The best O8B starting hand is AA23, double suited (the A and the 2 are of one suit, and the other A and the 3 are of another suit).
This hand gives you a good shot at the high, with the AA, and the flush possibilities, and a shot at the nut low.
Phil Hellmuth's 'Play Poker Like the Pros' has a good section on O8B. There are also some good articles on UB's website. |
