Another player's stats? No.
You can collect players stats using programs like Poker Tracker, which gather info through HH's. Or you can check out sites like thepokerdb.com or sharkscope.com. They collect tourney and sngs stats. |

You can view all players' SnG stats on www.sharkscope.com
I love that site because you can shut up a loud mouth at the table by quoting his miserable ROI and negative profit margin.
I was playing a game yesterday, and I commented that my opponent was trappy because he didn't bet a boat on the river. He replied back that I could have had a bigger boat that beat his, so I must be an idiot. I immediately looked him up on sharkscope, and much to my delight, he had a little fishy jumping around by his name. The rest of the table and I had a good laugh at his expense. |

Seriously a fish icon? I'm not sure I have ever seen this on Scope.
I have been debating paying Scope. Its a seriously cool tool. Its kind of depressing for me as I have recently made the transition from Ring games to SNGs and my performance is subpar (down a few hundred). Everytime I search for my name (a waste of one of the free searches considering I track it all on my own) - a little tear forms in my eye
However - it is really helpful to get a quick summary of a player.

I play a ton of STTs, and I usually look up the two people on my left and the person on my right. Then I wait until we get deeper into the tourny to pick 2 other people to look up. I would not pay for the service, though. It's tough enough to play winning poker and beat the rake without having to make up for a bunch of other expenses. |

This is why I don't get drunk and play online anymore. I took 50 and turned it into 385. Then my account got locked out for awhile. When I got back on I turned that into 490. Then my progressive drunkedness turned into me losing a 200 heads up on going all on with k 8 off-suite against a k. The next day I took 225 up to 470, then lost 3 out of 4 110 heads up turbo's, while to drunk yet again. I would play good all day just grinding up in 6 and 9 man sit n' go's and blow it all on drunken games of heads up. |

Ok, So after hearing all this nonsense about ROI % and listenting to all these losers use the word "Donk" or "Donkey" or "Noob" or any one of its equally annoying derivitives that little internet losers say, I finally decided to google what the hell a ROI% was and came across this forum.
First let me say that anyone who uses those words is lame. PERIOD. You just sound really lame and your not insulting anyone. You're really only insulting yourself and the noble Donkey along with you.
Now, as far as ROI % goes and Sharkscope or whatever its called: Really Really LAME. Nobody cares about thier ROI% except for you. The only thing it shows you is your Sit and Go and Tourny percentage. It has nothing to do with your poker game. And no, no matter how many times you have won with 3-9 suited, the fact that its suited does not make it any less crappy of a hand DESPITE what my ROI% is.
I would like to take this time to say that I despise internet poker. Its terrible and I personally dont trust the internet when gambling large sums of money. I play on FTP simply to amuse myself when I am doing other things. Lets face it. If you see me on a $10 sit and go I dont care about winning. Im probably drunk, watching a movie, and waiting for the little *DING* on my computer to tell me its my turn to play. Hell, with the free interntet at my pub I bring my laptop and sit in a KO tourny while shooting pool and basically the person closest to the laptop plays when its my turn. The bottom line is, there are thousands and thousands of people like me who care nothing for those little petty $10 sit and gos and like me will gladly turn off the laptop right in the middle of playing upon hearing the ring of thier cellphone to meet thier friends for a drink. I am in fact playing in a $6.50 sit and go right now as I type this.
This is getting long so I would like to end this now by saying that basically you are PAYING a website to provide to you the ROI of people who are 60% of the time not even paying attention to the game. You dont insult me when you bring up my ROI% in a $10 sit and go. All you do is make me make a mental note that you area loser and $10 dollars is apparently a lot of money to you. Im going to mix another drink now. |

I check out sharkscope and OPR often (mostly my own stats) and have concluded they are interesting but really cant be depended on. I do get a kick out of some guys b!tching about a beat calling others doinks when they are the doink according to sharkscope & OPR.
One example is one guy cracked my aces after a pertty good raise with 89s and I checked him out on both. OPR had him in the 99% which is pretty good. Sharkscope had him with a fishythingy. I checked a little further and he had won 200K in one tourney 6-9 months ago and not hardley anything since.
Another is my own stats. Sharkscope had me on tilt and I had just placed in a tourney with nice prize the day b4. Right now it probally should have me on tilt: yep it does. And I feel like I am. Every time I pull the trigger last 3 days I've shot myself in the foot. Moving down till the cards turn. |

I wouldn't make the assumption that 60% of the players are just like you. Or that someones financial state reflects on their quality of their game. I know a couple people who built their bankroll with freeroll winnings (too young to have a credit card), so that ten dollars was hard earned. I agree that the people using words like donk are more than likely talking about themselves. But unless you are name-calling yourself, no one would be looking up your RoI.
RoI is important in that it shows who the winning players are. And it's nice to know when you're up against an internet pro, who rakes in the bucks week after week. Losing stats don't relect as much because they aren't able to take into account the circimstances. Like someone moving up a level, sobriety or whatever. |

Your absolutely right. I hope this convinces more people to piss away their money that means nothing. $10, $20, $30, what does it really matter. It's just a game. Just provide me with a list of people who think like you, and I will gladly collect all these small insignificate amounts. I mean if they are just going to lose, they might as well lose to me, right? |

First:
" I agree that the people using words like donk are more than likely talking about themselves. But unless you are name-calling yourself, no one would be looking up your RoI." ---- Dashir
Many of these people get annoyed at something because they read a book once and think they are a Pro (afterall isnt everyone on FTP a Pro?) and start shooting their mouths off and I merely interact with them in hopes they get more and more angry and do something stupid the next time they are in a hand with me. I rarely even speak of Poker when I play and instead tend to allow the players to rile themselves up. Im pretty good at pushing buttons as Ive been doing this a long time. Then they spout out something about a ROI to try and lend some legitimacy to thier stupid play that knocked them out or cost them half thier stack. This is how I even found out about the stupid Sit and Go tracker things.
Second:
"Your absolutely right. I hope this convinces more people to piss away their money that means nothing. $10, $20, $30, what does it really matter. It's just a game. $10 sit and go's or tournys are nothing more than the cost of a movie ticket for a few hours entertainment. Those cigaretts, that bag of potato chips, that Pepsi from the vending machine...all those little vices cost a hell of a lot more than per annum than my $10 drunk sit and go's. Add up all the little nonsense things you spend a dollar here or a dollar there on in the course of a year and I garuntee you that you probably spend more and get less enjoyment for your time than I do on some drunken sit and go's. |

I have built up -- from nothing -- a bankroll of about $1,350, plus various withdrawals, BAPs, and purchases, giving me a total profit of about $1,800 so far. My average ROI is something like 9%, meaning $1,800 is about 9% of what I spent to make that money, making my total expenditure on (profitable) poker to $20,000. I can't remember exactly when I starting making money, but it has been about 2 years, so per annum would average to $10,000/yr.
You can add up all the little dollars you want. I can guarantee you I don't spend $10k/yr on little nonsense things. I can also guarantee you that I derive a great deal of enjoyment from playing poker and winning. More so, in fact, than I did when I was losing. Whether you or I have more fun I can't say. But then, despite trying, neither can you. |
