I am going to make a conscious effort to learn limit hold'em. Any tips that I should know for starters? Do you guys play tight or loose at the lower levels, say .50/1.00 or $1/$2, for example. Any help appreciated!

Low limit holdem is all about the draw. Big pairs don't hold up as much as you'd think. Don't cap each street with AA, you'll most likely be beat. Play tight, but see lots of multi-way pots with suited connectors JT and up.

My favourite low limit holdem hand is KQs.

Yeah I agree LLHE is all about the draws at a full table, I'd rather play JTs than AA, simply cos it's easier to dump. Oh and bluffing is impossible.

Generally play pretty tight--in limit you see about 5-8% fewer flops than in nl.

At the micros you cannot bluff (well, you can, but it is pretty tough...there is always someone who'll call you down with pocket threes--at least there is if I try to bluff.)

Get used to suck outs. Hands you wouldn't chase in nl are often getting proper odds to call down. Add in the recreational players that will play any two and call down if they hit any part of the flop, and suck outs happen all the time. Some days the are almost constant

I think my variance at limit is actually higher than nl because of this. But, play good hands, keep getting your money in with the best hand and it will pay off in the long-run.

For a quick start read: Winning Low Limit Holdem by Lee Jones. It is a simple read and there will be much you already know, but it will also help you make a rapid transition to limit.

If you want to get serious read: Small Stakes Holdem by Miller, Sklansky, and Mxxxxx. This is pretty much the bible for the serious low limit player. Be warned, their play style advocates pushing small edges where ever you can find them. This will increase your bb/100, but it will also increase your variance. Make sure you have the bankroll to handle it. (Minimum 300bb, better 400-500bb)

TY all. In the next month or so I'm going to experiment with it, so I'll keep you up to date and continue to ask for feedback & tips on certain hands if that's ok....

Thanks again!

I like to look at hand histories...let's me think about situations slowly and deliberately. Sometimes I don't do that at the tables...deadmoney caught me not doing it this morning. But I started flying right when he needled me.

You may want to consider shorthanded if you like more action. I highly recommend it, it's a lot more fun than full table, in my opinion.
