I've been running this tournament over until I got moved to my 4th table...It's fairly soft and very easy to read, but one guy is a HUGE calling station, that's the part for you AA. ChasBan, played EVERY stud hand and almost every Stud Hi/lo hand. He hit almost every one as well. He took a big pot off of me when I had Aces and a flush draw, he started out with A29 rainbow and hit a 2 on 4th and a J on 7th to make two pair on me. But this is what I mean by a soft table....I'll put my thoughts in bold.

| To be honest, I think you just got lucky here slick. The pre-flop call is absolutely awful. You'll get a great price every time people have limped and you're in the SB, but in a limit game that doesn't justify calling with complete trash, because your chances of winning the pot are just too low in proportion to your implied odds. On the flop, you need to realize how bad your hand is and just dump it unless calling on a complete bluff would've been a very slight loser or a winner. There are good gutshots and bad gutshots, and it doesn't get much worse than the one you have here. When it comes to you comment on the turn card about having a bigger gutshot, I have no idea what you're talking about. Getting a 6-card straight isn't going to win you any more pots, and it puts a spade draw out there as well. If you really want to take control of this hand and convince your opponent to fold, I think a checkraise is a much better option. Not only does it represent strength, but if he decides to check behind you get a free shot at making some kind of hand, and there's still a chance that you can take it away on the river if you miss. I obviously don't know your opponent though, so betting out might very well be the best play here. |

Nice hand though. |

Riddim: I know a 6 card straight isn't anything better, it was a mild attempt at humor. This particular opponent I had seen call down a check /raise, bet. So I thought I'd try to do it this way. I had bet draws in a couple previous hands and then when they hit I bet back out and had it both times. So by check / raising it would be deviating from how I had played the hand I was representing before. You've also talked to me before about me being somewhat of a calling station from the blinds. I had just taken a pretty big "bad" beat from the suckout king at the table AND I had two limpers in front of me. If there is that many limpers in front of me in the small blind I'm getting 7 - 1 and it's only costing 1/2 of a small bet. I know I had the ass end of the gutshot and even if my card hit a bigger straight is possible. But I knew this player had layed down hands before and was giving me respect at the table. I had been playing pretty tight during this tournament as well, I didn't donk off chips like I do sometimes in the $1.25 sngs. Thanks for the critique though, it's always appreciated.
drcossack: I'm doing well in these tournies but not good enough to beat the absolutely horrid stud players that catch nearly everytime, whether it's against me or not. I told you I couldn't make any promises and I don't like being staked all that much because when something beyond my controls goes bad I kind of feel like sh!t. I appreciate the stake though and am always willing to play if someone thinks I'm good enough to earn them a good return on their money. |

I just registered. It's way out of my FTP bankroll, but I need to reward myself for being good and hardly tilting at the cash tables tonight. |

Yeah I saw you vacuuming money at a NL table earlier. After making my 2nd final table last night, I have managed to donk/tilt off my winnings in about 30 minutes. |

You must've caught me at a good time then. I'm up an amazing $3 after a little more than 500 hands tonight. |

I went out right after you did riddim...It seems like it is hard to avoid the donkfest the first couple of hours in the lower buy in tourneys...
I know what you mean about the ring games...seems like a waste of time when you do not get the big profits. |

| Far from it, it's still fun and at least I didn't lose. I was down over 2 buy-ins at one point, so leaving ahead $3 doesn't feel too bad. My tourney results have sucked tonight though. I played the 01:00 NLHE and busted out there too already. |
