Thinking of sitting down at a 25/50c limit game tonight. What would you suggest sitting down with, ie. how much? And can I expect to make a profit if I play solid poker?

Just make sure that you can cap every street at all times. If you're a decent limit player you can probably expect to make a profit most of your sessions.

I usually like to sit with 20 Big Bets at any limit table. At hold 'em and Omaha it's 12 big bets to cap every street, during stud / razz it's 16 big bets to cap every street. So I like 20 big bets it gives me a little bit of time to find a real hand to aggressive with.

$10 at the .25 / .50 is usually good enough

I think sitting with a little over the bare minimum needed to cap every street is advantageous. Why? Because a lot of the players who buy in as big big stacks tend to "attack" the smaller stacks with weaker holdings. I don't know why, but they just do.

I sit with between 25-30bb. If you get beat a couple of hands you still have enough to cover 12bb without reloading.

I am learning how to stand up and change tables if I fall below 12bb.

What intrigues me is that even though I sit with the same amount (25-30bb) the default buyin at FT is 10bb while at UB it is 50bb. I have to remember when I'm at UB that stacks of 35-45bb are typically down while stacks of 15-20bb are up at FT.

I have got in the habbit on here of just sitting down with 10BB and then hitting the get chips button and double up to 20bb.

Seems to be enough at the micro stakes where I play...

I think I'm one of those awful people you talk about KGB, but I only do it when I play .25/50 or below, and the reason is because small stacks often fold to pressure, they don't want to call off their whole stack (even though they can just reload) unless they have the nuts. I look a bit stupid when I turn over A High, but I think it's paid off overall as I sometimes catch, and often I scoop the pot with nothing.

Although the best buyin move I have seen is someone who bought into a .25/.50 with $100. A huge buyin, but everyone else at the table was really gunning for this guy and they turned into calling stations with bottom pair of 2 high cards. I havent tried it myself, I just thought it was a neat trick. Anyone tried/seen that sort of thig?

I usually go for 50xBB. Not that I am willing to lose that much, but I find that with a TAG style it helps to have people respect you more if you have a big stack.
