What is the generally accepted limit that you should play at?$.50/$1 , $1/$2 , $2/$4 , $3/$6 or $5/$10.

If you are experienced, you can play 1-2 comfortably with 600 bucks.

Otherwise stick to .50-1 for a few thousand hands and see how you do at that level...

I'd start at .50/1.

$0.5/$1, definitely.

See if you can make $200 at that level, and then move up. $800 should be plenty to play both FT and SH $1/$2, in my opinion.
