| Hi to all. I usually play at $1-2 stake with $100 buy-in, I've recently moved to $2-4 stake and I buy-in for $200. Overall what bankroll do I need to have in order to withstand limit flunctions? |

| Between 300-500 big bets depending on who you listen to. I usually prefer to stick to the higher end of that spectrum. |

I tried 2-4 with 800 bucks and I couldn't withstand the variance. Variance and different playing styles with more aggression crippled my roll within a few thousand hands, and I managed to quit 2-4 with about 200 bucks left.
Don't make the jump with a short roll. Playing with a short roll really affected my play, and I didn't think it would. If you are up in that 300 BB range, I would suggest taking shots at 2-4, while playing 1-2 for your steady money.
Once you get up to that 500BB range playing both levels, I would say go for it and make the jump to 2-4.
Good luck... |

I'd say you would have a lot more confidence at 2/4 if you won $1600 at 1/2. (this just happens to be 400 big bets) |

Yes, I agree...400 BB would have been much better and I probably would not have landed in flames.
I chalked it up as a learning experience. I can honestly say that 2-4 is beatable for me, I just did not have enough of a roll to survive.
I have a pretty good job and it did not pain me to play with a short roll at .50-1 or even at 1-2. If I went broke I could just reload for $300-$400 more on the next payday. I went broke 3 times in the last year and a half playing with a short roll, the last one being about 8 months ago playing 1-2. I did not use proper bankroll management, because I could afford to reload.
I learned a valuable lesson about bankroll management when I made the jump to 2-4. I could no longer afford to rebuy when I went broke at that level. I just could not afford to use half my paycheck to buy back in for 250BB at 2-4. Not only would my bills lag, but my wife would cut my nuts off if she found out I deposited a grand into an online poker site.
I am not sure where I am going to deposit my $350 bucks I took off PP, but when I do, I will be hitting .50-1 and not moving up until I get to 500BB for the next higher level. It will take a while, but I have learned my lesson...I am a new believer in Bankroll Management...
I might take advantage of the 100% reload on UB this weekend and start there... |

| In additon to bankroll, most of you know this but for those that don't, make sure you always have enough $ in front of you on the table to cap all the streets if need be. I learned the hard way when I had a monster hand up against a a good hand and I didn't have enough $ in front of me to cap every street. Won the hand but missed out on a bunch more $ This happend on line to me but I saw it happen live to a friend of mine who only brought a short amount to a 2-4 LHE table. He never kept any more than the small stake that he brought with him, so as luck would have it, he did in fact hit a monster hand, was all in with the rest of his $10 by the flop, and he won but should have won way way more. I told him he needs to have at least enough on the table to cap it all. Usually you don't need to cap it but just in case this a good lesson for anyone. |

I've been at UB. Plusses about their bonus: It's paid immediately, so no saving up points and getting the bonus in one piece. You've got like forever to clear it.
Minuses: It's gonna take forever to clear it. Which is ok since that's about the time you have to do it in (as I said), but it's no bankroll booster.
Oh and please welcome me to the site.
Edit: I have edited. So there...

I wish I knew who don svenne was, so that I could laugh at the joke too. I bet it's really funny if you know who he is. |

Don Svenne was a Swedish kid who made hundreds of anti-America posts and kept on telling everyone he was the best. He got thrown out of the forum a couple of weeks ago. |

Oh. Well don't worry about me. I love americans. At least as poker players. And all the americans I've ever met in person* were really nice people.
It's another thing about Swedes, though. Man, do I hate them... nah, just kidding.
*That would be my friend and his mom |

| Jesper, just make a forum search for posts with don svenne as the author and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Some of his worst posts might be gone, but hopefully his first thread about "swedish chicago" is still there. That one's hilarious. |
