I can't tell much about OP's experience level from one post, but if he has read nothing I would back up even further and start with Winning Low Limit HE WLLH can be read/absorbed in a few days while SSHE is going to take some time and effort to absorb. Sort of like performing first aid to stop the really bad bleeding quickly before sending the injured off to surgery.

by the way... if you're going to tell me i shouldn't be playing 98o, well ksbdog had been playing (i would guess) 3/4 of his hands, including anything that was suited (even things like 93s). he also overcalled re-raises with crap like bottom pair so i knew that a hand such as a straight would have much bigger than normal implied odds.

I'm not a huge limit player, but I would still have to say playing 89 in that position was a pretty suspect play. Just because 1 player is playing bad doesn't mean that you should try to chase down hands to try to gain extra bets that he will give you. Play strong hands and do the same thing. As for how you played the hand after the flop, I'd say you played it pretty well. Just my 2 cents.

Hi

Some suggestions i hope they help.

FullTiltPoker Game #1096932411: Table Reno - $0.25/$0.50 - Limit Hold'em - 10:30:51 ET - 2006/10/13
Seat 1: CInferno ($64.55)
Seat 2: Verdimaal ($22.65)
Seat 3: QxQ_2 ($8.70)
Seat 4: Canlis ($14.10)
Seat 5: Res Ipsa Loq ($2.70)
Seat 6: jackleg001 ($16.05)
Seat 7: Keywells ($17.70)
Seat 8: AmericanAirline ($13.90)
Seat 9: Custom Style ($57.90)
AmericanAirline posts the small blind of $0.10
Custom Style posts the big blind of $0.25
The button is in seat #7
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to AmericanAirline [Tc Ts]
Verdimaal folds
QxQ_2 folds
Canlis raises to $0.50

Probably A Pair or High cards

Res Ipsa Loq folds
jackleg001 folds
Keywells folds
AmericanAirline raises to $0.75

Correct Play

Custom Style calls $0.50

Called a raise & re raise, would put on a pair but not a hi pair or Hi Suited Cards .

Canlis calls $0.25

Would put on Hi cards.

*** FLOP *** [4s 6s 3d]
AmericanAirline bets $0.25

Correct play

Custom Style raises to $0.50

Raising to see where he/she is.Maybe Betting the Spade Flush or Straight Draw both of which are on.

Canlis folds
AmericanAirline raises to $0.75

With this flop and a re raise the corect play would be a defensive call and not a reraise in my opinion ( some may disagree )
Canlis is sitting out
Custom Style has 15 seconds left to act
Custom Style calls $0.25

Correct play

*** TURN *** [4s 6s 3d] [5h]
AmericanAirline bets $0.50

This play in my opinion wrong,You know he/she has no hi cards so must be on a draw, when the 5H giving an open ended Straight Draw you should have checked/Called.

Custom Style raises to $1
AmericanAirline calls $0.50
*** RIVER *** [4s 6s 3d 5h] [Qs]
AmericanAirline bets $0.50

Very wrong play.Custom has just Raised your bet , should have Checked/Called or Check/Folded
Custom Style calls $0.50
*** SHOW DOWN ***
AmericanAirline shows [Tc Ts] (a pair of Tens)
Custom Style shows [7h 7s] (a straight, Seven high)
Custom Style wins the pot ($6.45) with a straight, Seven high
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $6.75 | Rake $0.30
Board: [4s 6s 3d 5h Qs]
Seat 1: CInferno is sitting out
Seat 2: Verdimaal didn't bet (folded)
Seat 3: QxQ_2 didn't bet (folded)
Seat 4: Canlis folded on the Flop
Seat 5: Res Ipsa Loq didn't bet (folded)
Seat 6: jackleg001 didn't bet (folded)

I'm not a huge limit player, but I would still have to say playing 89 in that position was a pretty suspect play. As for how you played the hand after the flop, I'd say you played it pretty well. Just my 2 cents.

I actually like HuJwang's play here if this is a typical preflop scenario. When playing limit(or NL for that matter), the typical best hand goes from TP to 2 PR. at minimum when over 4 players are involved with a hand. Drawing hands become far superior in the long run. For every 3 or 4 bets or more that are lost after the missed flop are typically made up and then some when you hit the hand. There is a great P5's article about low level Limit Hold'em. I'm working on 3 hours sleep, man do I feel retarded.
