I just finished playing like 10 hours with a few breaks at UB. Its going really well, i started slow 1 tabling .25/.50 with a $75 BR and even bumped into griff on the way a few days back. When I got to .5/1 I was 3-tabling and got my micro roll over $500 so I'm actually playing 1/2 now It would be great to recreate my roll from scratch as it looks like I'm getting past the biggest hurdles for risk of ruin. The other great thing is they are doing a points reimbursement there right now so if you get 750 pts you can cash them for .03 a point, and if you get 1000 pts you get .05 cents and 2000 you get 7.5 cents (2000 pts ~ $150). Its like an additional rakeback and I'm still clearing the bonus that I had left on there too. Most of the players are pretty laid back and more fun than the higher limit serious crowd, although they are much more prone to going on tilt. Only thing i'm worried about is picking up the habits that work well for micro and forgetting to lose them higher up. Anyway, wish me luck and good luck to you too. |

Hey Dead,
How many hours are you playing to work $75 up to $500?
By the way, it was fun to run into at the tables. I don't get to play with people I actually "know" all that often. |

I'm at work right now so I don't have access to PT, but 10 hours on Sun and prob ~8 hours besides that. I went on a mad rush at .5/1 and was getting away with murder, bonus account helped to. FYI I just got an email from the Hendon Mob that says even if you have an existing account at FTP you can receive rakeback through them if your email address was not originally linked to another affiliate. Might be time to check out 1/2 at FTP again, kinda hate not being able to change my name though here. UB let me do a one time name change and PP let me do it 3 times.
EDIT: Hey Griff have you been playin? They have a promotion at UB right now that you can convert your UB pts to cash like a rakeback which started 6th and ends on thurs at midnight. I'm trying to make it to 2000 pts by then and i'm sitting at a little over 1100. If you make it to 2000 its an extra $150
EDIT #2: Hey guys, my roommate quit his job on Fri to play online poker full time. I tried to talk him out of it or at least delay until the smoke clears with the legislation but he is stubborn like me. I have to admit, i'm insanely jealous right now and after looking at his stats, he is actually doing better than me 4-tabling when I looked at his last 12,000 hands. Its kinda irritating to tutor someone from scratch and have them come out better than you... If online poker doesn't crash I'm predicting he'll be making ~120,000+ a year.
EDIT #3: Caught some fierce competition over the last few days from one of my buddies that plays at UB but in the end PT says I bested him out of +$60 bucks and I've grinded my way over $1000 now. I'm up to 1677 pts so tomorrow will be the big push to try to hit 2000 pts for $150 pts redemption. I'm trying to get the hendonmob rakeback through ftp but they are swamped with responses, i just can't remember if i already have some donk affiliate that I found FTP from which would be sad but not the end of the world. 10% chance that I signed up through ftp directly through the website since I heard of them through cardplayer mag I think. If so i'll hate losing my anonymity but people can try out 6max with me here for at least a while. (I might have to go to PS since they are staying around but RB at ftp is huge incentive to come here). Wish me luck |

Bonus accounts do help and I don't play nearly as much as you. There may be hope for me yet.

I'll have to check this out. I'd love rakeback and I know that I signed up directly with FTP.

I'm playing the wrong site. I'll have to get on UB when I get home and see how many points I have...I know I have 1000+, I could be close to 2k and +$150 would allow me to take some shots at the 1/2 games again.

$120k I'd quit my job if I could play that well.
I hear you about the tutoring thing. I'm much better at theoretical poker than actual poker. It is rather annoying to be able to think clearly away from the table, but not at the table. |

I know I also signed up directly through FTP but there is a stipulation that if you had even clicked on an affiliate web site that planted a cookie in your browser before you went directly to FTP and signed up they become your affiliate. Bunch of BS and I can't remember years ago if I did that which would be sad because I originally found FTP from looking at a CP mag in my local club.

I like all my handles but anonymity is priceless. Its hard enough to get action and it is and even harder to convince people you are an utter newb. I'd imagine there would be enough forum browsers that would be better at predicting patterns from me to reduce profits even with RB.

You should log in to the UB cashier, it shows the pts you've accumulated 6th through 12th (ends tonight midnight). Remember you need 750 pts minimum earned during this time period to qualify for the bottom echelon.

Yup, that's what he did Although his job doesn't pay nearly as much as mine and does not have added benefits etc and the risk of a really ugly future pending a random IRS encounter. |

I hear you. I actually considered never posting on this site (we can see how well that went) because I use "griffinlord" as my play handle everywhere and feared folks lurking on the forums figuring out more about me than I care to have them know at the tables.
I don't know for sure, but there are a few folks I suspect of doing just that. (Probably just paranoia on my part...but....) |

Well here's the last update from UB, I finished with a little over $1480, I'm buying a new computer (dual core AMD baby) with ~$800 which should arrive by monday through newegg.com :)and the rest is coming here for FTP 1/2 6max. I'm sure we'll have lots of fun and I'm hoping not to get ruined here. |

That is a heck of a roll you went on...
If you do not mind saying, what was your BB/100 in both .50/1 and 1/2.
I can understand if you want to keep you stats to yourself, but a few of us aspiring poker players need to know what to shoot for...
Thanks and see ya at the FT Tables. |

Forget about the bb/100 rate...I want to know how he keeps winning. I always manage to log a few wins, get up 15-20bb then manage to drop 25-40bb all in a single session. Get up 20-30bb and drop 50.
I want to sweat him sometime and see how he does it. |

Quit before the down swing? That's what I've found I have to do in limit. Otherwise I find myself in a similar situation to you griff. I really want to pick deadmoney's brain on limit play. |

Right now that's the only thing that works for me--when I actually remember to quit
But there must be something else. I see some folks sitting at the tables and their stacks seem to continue growing over several hours...sure, they bounce up and down a bit, but if they have 20bb now and I check on them in a couple of hours they'll have 30bb and a couple of hours after that 40bb.
They know something I don't, and I want to know what it is.
Me, I can't seem to hang on to chips for more than 30-40 minutes.
I know that some of it is donkey play, I just insist on trying to bluff when my opponent actually has a hand and some other stupid things that I'm working on.
But I also seem to lose a lot of chips when I flop a good hand (set/two pair) and get called down by Q-4o who hits a straight/flush on the river. But Q-4 off doesn't seem to want to call me down everytime...just when their junk hand is going to hit on the river.
I must be missing something and I want to know what it is. |

I think part of the reason that people start hitting weak and goofy hands on you is that they get tired of being pushed off hands all night with aggressive play on your part and start going to showdown more against you and drawing out.
I know that happens with me quite a bit. Tighten up or move to a different table... |

Me, aggressive? Why I'm just a milded mannered ***** cat.
Sometimes I do feel like they've figured me out. Maybe if I hit +10bb at a table I should just switch. I'll try it and see how it goes. |
