I have been saving money for the last few months from each weeks paycheaque and creating a bankroll for live play. my goal is $2000 I'm at $1300 and have about 7 weeks of saving to go depending on life expenses + xmas shopping.
However in Dec there is going to be a $500+50 NLHE televised tournament with a $100,000 prize pool. (200 people max)
I would love to enter it, but I made a promise to myself to save the $2000 BEFORE I start playing at the casino again.
Also I have never played a live tournament before.
Should i bite the bullet? |

Go back through my previous posts and see how often I've been edited for foul language (almost never, or never) to understand the full impact of this:
**** eh, hell yes!
I started saving to enter a live tournament in 1982. I still haven't. If you've got the money go. Do it. Don't wait.
You may never get $2000 put together. Cars need repair--kids need clothes--whatever, money that was saved up has a nasty habit of disappearing for other, perfectly reasonable, uses.
If you can do it, do it.
Maybe you hate it...then you can spend the rest of the money on something else.
Maybe you love it...then you will have that much easier a time saving up for the next tournament.
And, maybe, you make it deep into the money and bring home your $2k or more. (Probably not at your first tournament, but hey, it could happen.)
GO! GO! GO! |
