I believe I remember reading about Mike Caro testifying in a California case about gamling and taxes, arguing that poker was a skill game rather than luck. I thought the side that he was testifying for won the case, based in large part on his mathematical evidence. If someone has any more information or anything else to add, that would be greatly appreciated.

I too would like to express my gratitude to FTP for this. At a time when every poker site is basically aborting, you guys stand tall for what you believe. i love it. too bad everyone on this site is so good, or i'd play here all the time instead of taking donks' money at AP, but at least they're behind us US players too. only two sites i play at too, how lucky.

screw PS, PP, and all those other cop out sites.

I started on FTP when it was in Beta mode as a play money player. I have now been playing two years and recently deposited on the site for the first time to participate in a buy in league I belong too and for a Blogger tourney that moved here. FTP also stepped up to the plate and has sponsered my live league.

I would like to thank you for sponsering my live league and for sticking by us US players. Ill stick with you as long as you stick with us.

Thank you for keeping the lines of communication open. Just remember folks not to support the sites that bailed on us if they ever re-open to the USA.

so today, when i tried to transfer money from my firepay account into my fulltilt bank account, i got a message from firepay saying i would no longer be able to use firepay to transfer money into any gambling sites because of the on-line gambling act. so what do i do now?

According to FirePay,

- Effective immediately, FirePay will decline any purchase transactions from US FirePay account holders at any gambling merchant site.
- Starting October 23rd, 2006, FirePay will decline any transfer attempt made by any online gambling merchant to a US FirePay account. (emphasis mine)

This new policy does not affect FirePay account holders from outside of the United States.

I'm in the US and am VERY disturbed by this new legislation and its effects. While we wait for for the UIGEA to be overturned, what is the alternative for us US FirePay customers to fund our FTP accounts?

I've read plenty of NETeller recommendations, and there are rumors that they will continue to accept desposits and withdrawls (cashouts) from US customers. Can anybody confirm this? Are they active in New York? The actual, official policy (and this goes for all of Full Tilt's partner "payment processors") is hidden behind their login screen, visibile only to registered members.

What's the deal?

Neteller is going to abide by the law. Here is the link from card player regarding this. It's only a matter of time before all the sites do the same.
