Here is an update on the total signatures:

2050 Signatures Total

I've gotten my entire family and group of friends to sign this petition. However, I did read something in the BLUFF forum about how online signatures can't do anything. Pen-and-paper petitions are actually the petitions that will help us. Is this true or not? If anybody knows, could they post a link? I myself haven't found anything (so far) online, but I'll keep looking.

Paper always carries more weight than online. A physical letter that you mail to your congressman has more weight than an email that you fire off to them. I know MoveOn usually prints their online petitions and then has them delivered to one or more congressmen, which should be just as effective. I would imagine any serious advocacy group would do the same.

I signed, but their site seems a little more radical. What I mean is they don't seem to be sticking strickly to the facts, blowing things a little out of purportion, spinning, etc.

I think too much of that might hurt our cause.

Also, it looks like it was just put up this morning. I wonder who is behind it.

The drawing for WSOP entry was a nice touch.

The petition is a nice thought, but too little too late. Congress already passed it. What good is petitioning gonna do now? Not that a few thousand online signatures out of a country of 300 million is gonna mean anything anyways. Petition to full tilt to stay open for US players, that will have more of an effect if the non US people threaten to leave full tilt.

It truly is a load of crap. My take on this is they want to cripple online gaming, then have the online sites come begging to the US for them to cut a deal making it legal, with the govt. getting the "rake". These a-hole senators & congressman say it's a morality issue, give me a friggin break!
I sure don't see the slightest effort being put forth to stop the availability of extreme porn to kids of all ages, all the myspace "pedephelia playgrounds", the snuff-cams for homeless vs. homeless violence, etc, etc.
It's time to clean house and vote in people w/ true morals, and not those that are getting their bread-buttered from countless sources.

As much as I used to consider me leaning towards the republican ideals, I am voting down the list all Democrat, I dont care what any of the Dems stand for, I do know what the Republicans stand for, getting votes, from special interests and businesses, also they want to let our churches take over also(for the right price), I see now difference in the Taliban and our current Republican Leaders, they both want to repress their citizens and use religion as an excuse, but they both are answering to money. what a sham

I am surprised that full tilt and the other sites haven't sent out an email asking you sign the petition. There are so many people that don't know about this ban. I am telling as many people when I am playing, mostly on party poker. I am just shocked that the sites aren't getting together to try and do something before Bush signs the bill. They are probably going to file bankruptcy and keep all of our money. That does happen in the business world, expecially wall street.

We are, as a group, only about 5 or 6 percent of the US population; but I bet we could make a considerable difference in the upcoming elections---

Only if they rely almost entirely on US business, which isn't the case for most of these sites. If you play somewhere reputable you have nothing to worry about.
