| questions about 6 max omaha tables. i've played at the micros a couple times for the past few days and was wondering what the difference was between playing omaha 9 handed tables and the 6 handed tables. is there a difference in the range of cards you are willing to play versus full 9 handed table? i know in hold'em the range of hands goes up tremendously and was wondering if it was the same situation with omaha. i'm thinking that the variance between hands isn't as much since you are still getting 4 cards, but in terms of what to open with and what to start with, is there a wider range of hands you are willing to play? thanks in advance. |

The biggest change is the aggression. Generally people are more aggressive with marginal holdings when they play 6-max. Variance always goes up as a result of this.
Reads are also very important because you can be involved in more situations where you'll get paid off even if you have a strong - but not the nuts - hand. Your K and Q high flushes may still be paid off, and same with the 2nd highest straight as people will be more likely to believe their mediocre draws are still good. However, there's always the people that still nutpeddle so don't bother going for a second best draw if you feel s/he is drawing to the same sort of hand. |

| I haven't played the 6max table often, when I did I was much happier playing things like TPTK, and Top two more aggressively. It's still a flop game, but there is much more room to play post flop. 9 handed someone always has the nuts. My hand selection didn't change much, mostly because I see 35% of my flops anyway. |

You can bluff a bit more on the I think in 6 max... people cant always put you on the nuts but showing agression preflop with loose players.. even if you dont hit, when you are in position you can bet and reraise the calling LPs. I find that PokerTracker will show you who will call with middle pocket pairs, so just watch out for the mid straights and low trips on boards you dont have redraws too.
But aggression seems to be key. |

Not sure about the bluffing, I don't think I have ever bluffed (at least not in the same way I do in NLHE) in Omaha. I might bet out with a pair on the river if nobody is betting and the board is scary, but not like in NLHE where you can bluff with nothing. I find that people tend to call with the 6-7th best hand and there is really no point. I love the .10/.25 PLO shorthanded because if you patient there is a pretty profit. That is just me though, I don't think bluffing is very wise, at least at my limits, too many idiots. |

| Well if you don't have calling stations but feel you are playing with tighter players depending on limits as well, whena scare card comes off people will actually buy it with a "value bet" bluff.... sometimes there is enough out there to jsut save that bet... all depends on the player and what youi put them on and what you feel you can push them off on... |
