Before I get started let me say im not scolding anyone for anything they have said. All im saying is what is the point and not a word more.

There will allways be players in someones opinion who are not favored and sometimes they may not be favored by the masses too.

What's the point?

Poker is not about the players as much as it is about the game they play and how they play it (my opinion).

There are excellent professional poker players who may be disliked by some, or even many, but does that mean you wouldn't like to know how they win those games they play? I would love to know everything I could get my hands on about those players, how they play and how they win. Wink

Well said, but let me point out to you that one of the reasons that the personalities of the pros is so worth talking about is that so many of the pros are well liked and likable that people love to talk about them.

I didn't really have any "un"favorite players...but after reading the colum on the latest CardPlayer Mag about "the mouth". I would have to say it's him. I mean WOW.
Let's see....he's a convicted criminal (drug dealer), hustler, and avidly admits that he has gambled with his deed to his house many times. He also admits that money means nothing to him. The guy even admits that he lost over 200k in prison when he was there for 6 months leading up to the 2005 WSOP. Someone says he's "unbalanced". I agree 100%.

Now is that's not a degenerate, I don;t know who is....

Hmm, let's see. Stu Ungar, considered by many to be among the finest Texas Hold'Em players to ever live, was considered a degenerate gambler. Money meant absolutely NOTHING to him. He was arrested several times for buying drugs. He lost at least $30 million in his lifetime due to his gambling habits.

That's a degenerate.

To this I agree and I love to see a respected gentleman or woman playing the game but I also love to see those who fall somewhere across the line of social acceptance.

I supposes my point was more that social aspects of any given player will never help my game unless it has a direct impact on how they win or lose. I really wasn't looking at it as a social issue but more simply from the standpoint of playing the game. No doubt it would make good reading under the News and Gossip section of this site. Idea

Whenever I see certain players for example named time and time above, hellmuth and matusow, anyone can look at them and say that they hate them. And I really respect everyone saying that they understand how good at poker they are, because I find that is one thing that most people don't notice is how good they are. I found that I always hated on those types of players while watchin them on tv because of their abnoxiousness and such, but after watching this year's circuit event and seein Bellande dominate the table for almost the entire time, even though he was annoying, I could really see how good his reads were and how much he uses his annoying ways to get in the opponents heads and give himself a chance. So in some cases when they use it to their advantage but don't go overboard in his case, (not Matusows by any chance), then I have to respect them even though I wouldn't act the same way at the table.

Why would you despise Mr Kotter? He's been to at least 2 final tbls at the Wsop.
starting back in 1980.
Seems to me that he does't "try" to be a poker player,he is one. Wink

The only ppl that others should despise are the rude, obnoxious morons like Arieh, ppl that have to demean others when they lose.

That Australian guy, Tony G. Holy crap, you don't have to berate your fellow players on such a regular basis. He said it's just poker, I say it just reflects on his $hitty attitude.

I dont know how tuan lee did so well on the wpt when he spent the whole time watching the screens to see that he was on camera, dont know if i am the only one that noticed that, maybe if he gets more than his 15 minutes, or 2 hrs on travel channel, he will stop staring at himself on the big screen...
i dont have much respect for "pro's" that berate others' play while at the table, we all may be in shock at another's moves during play, but show some dignity

Do you guys remember "X-22" the dork with the deformed nose that licked his lips alot. Everything about that guy screams "i'm going to put you on tilt and play goofball draws". He would yell out "quack quack" to bet 22,000--that WPT episode still gives me bad dreams.

Anyway, good call on the Tuan Le and a close second is his brother--goofballs that caught cards and think they are better than everyone.

I actually like Phil Helmuth and look forward to watching every appearance and breakdown. I actually like it when he is winning and bragging too. Except for him getting beat down by Annie Duke, I didn't like his attitude so much then.

Tony G., another freaking idiot that I hope someone shoots--and something about Marcel Luske just pisses me off and makes me want to cut his break lines.

I agree with most of you in that Mike the Mouth is one of the players I DON'T LIKE AT ALL. But along with him in no particular order I would include, (not sure about the spelling for these people) Josh Aria, T.J. Cloutier, Todd Brunsun and Ms. (Dont call me Daisy) Duke.

Todd Brunson acts totally arrogant. He threw a fit with a dealer during the Poker Super Stars 2 because the dealer thought Todd checked (which it seemed like he did) and was going to deal the turn card. Todd started yelling at the dealer and went on and on berating the poor woman. The tournament director had to step in to get Todd to settle down. Heck we're all human and if you think about it these dealers are on TV same as the pro's and its extremely rare that any of them makes a mistake. As it was no card was delt, no damage done, except in my mind it confirmed the arrogance and rudeness of Todd Brunsun.

Also Todd said during this tournament that the biggest hand he was ever involved in was against a player for 30 million dollars. In my opinion this is total Bullsh!#. Thats one heck of a lot of money for ANYONE to have. Even Bill Gates who's worth billions probably doesnt have that kind of CASH just laying around (But I bet his checking account has a damn huge balance, lol) so I sincerely doubt Todd Brunsun has that kind of cash or credit available to him at any casino, NO MATTER HOW MANY BOOKS HIS DADDY DOYLE HAS SOLD.

Lastly, A female player I dont care for. I have been reading, hearing and seeing that Ms. Duke has become quite **** and gotten a really swelled head. She is often very rude and insulting to players who are unkowns, just common folk like you and I. Although I will say Ms. Duke sometimes makes my head swell up to if you know what I mean (I say this in joking and would never say such a thing to her or to any Lady).

In defense of her perhaps some of these players have not been gentlemen ie, made suggestive comments or remarks. Being a man myself I've heard and seen many a men act totally out of line when around an attractive woman who happened to be attending a business meeting. And I know this goes on at the poker table as well.
