To all you Daniel Negranu lovers while I appreciate your opinions please do me a favor and really look at the facts here. The WPT is attacking when they should just say we are right and your suit is frivilous. They have instead dragged online poker into the equation. That could get us all put out on the street.
To the guy that said it was the pros fault this happeened and they will be living in Las Vegas either way. WAKE UP. The poker world will crash without the contributions of the US players online. No more large fields at the WSOP equals no more profits. Smaller WPT fields means smaller prize pools, but the biggest problem is simply this.
IF FEWER PEOPLE ARE PLAYING POKER FEWER PEOPLE WILL CARE TO WATCH POKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOODBYE WPT welcome back baseball!!!!
The big game will go back to 100/200.
I offered some simply solutions, but my point was simply this.
The lawsuit was the wrong solution.
The release was all about Steve Limpscomb's ego.
The blind structure that is made for TV is stupid. (by the way its a 2 HOUR SHOW how many hands can we really watch.) (I would rather see the early stages of the tournament.)
So to you Daniel Negranu and your lovers out there take a flying leap before you are back to playing 1/2 limit in the back of a 7/11.

What in the world are u talking about?? Have u even read anything about the lawsuit? Have u read the actual documents and what the players suit is about?? They did not file this suit because they didnt like the "blind structure" of the WPT. R u really that moronic?? And the WPT is only "attacking" because of these 7 idiot pros who went on to yell their opinion and went about this the totally wrong way. The WPT is simply fighting back, and this was definatel expected to happen. I mean what did Howard Lederer expect them to do, sit back and do nothing? I agree that this is terrible for the poker world as a whole, but it is these 7 players fault for starting it. Since you are a Daniel hater, Barry Greenstein has also been quoted saying he is against what they are doing. If they want changes y would they bring a lawsuit with only 7 players to back them up? Y not 300, 500, 800? The WPT would listen much more then.
I really think u fail to see what the 7 players filed this suit for. They are basically saying that the WPT is monopolizing the poker world and violating the antitrust law. Since you do not research before opening your fat mouth here are some excerpts from the WPTE response. . .
-"Poker is more popular than ever before, which has led to more poker tournaments, more poker players entering tournaments, more poker programming being broadcast on television and more prize money for players. The poker industry is a model of a competitive marketplace, with more and greater opportunities and choices for casinos, broadcasters, publishers, and players alike. For Plaintiffs to suggest in the face of the recent poker explosion in the poker industry sparked by the World Poker Tour, that WPTE has restricted the output of poker tournaments or otherwise restrained competition in the poker industry is disingenuous and without foundation."
-"The irony of Plaintiffs claims is that the "notoriety" that these seven Plaintiffs claim forms the basis of their considerable income is due in no small part to their participation in the World Poker Tour in its early years, at a time when the public had never heard of them, and which would not have been possible without the reasonable releases about which the Plaintiffs complain."
-"Full Tilt Poker, a website started by Plaintiffs Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer, and with which at least two other plaintiffs are affiliated, already competes unfairly against WPTE by using the tremendous revenues it obtains from promoting online gambling in the United States and accepting online bets from persons located in the United States- activities declared by the U.S. Department of Justice as illegal under existing law- to subsidize the poker programming it offers television networks.
WPTE on the other hand, complies with the letter and spirit of the law as currently interpreted by the Department of Justice and employs numerous safeguards to ensure no one in the United States can place a bet on it's online poker website, leaving websites like Full Tilt Poker (and it's owners Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer) to reap these illicit profits."
-"In sum, this baseless antitrust lawsuit is not about promoting competition or freeing players from restrictive bonds imposed by a cartel of league owners, as Plaintiffs disingenuously claim. Rather, this is a case brought as a competitive tactic by seven multimillionaires who WPTE shepherded from unknowns to wealthy poker personalities with interests in competing enterprises in an ever-increasingly competitive poker entertainment marketplace."
