Looking for NL Sit and Go if there is such a thing. If not a place that runs nightly small tournaments if there is such a thing .... and if not that I guess a place to play some lower stakes NL.

Thanks

The Sahara runs $40 NL tourneys three times a day--11 AM, 7 PM, 11 PM. Some other places (Palace Station, Joker's Wild, I think, among others) have $20, $25, and $30 NL tourneys at times also.

If you are just looking for a good ring game, you absolutely have to play at the Wynn and the Bellagio. You can't go and not play these places, they're top-shelf. MGM is also nice.

I go to vegas once every 3-4 months. The games at the larger casinos are great games but there are great players as well. I do spend some time at those places but if i want to make money i play at the "Family style" casino's. Excalibur, circus circus, as well as the hotels hosting conventions. You can look at the casinos web pages and see what conventions are coming and approx number of ppl. There are far more recreational players there then any real poker players. They may not have deep pockets but they are there for fun so losing a few hundred is probably part of their expenses for the weekend. And theres always a dozen more waiting to take their seat. Avoid old town, the poker players there have been playing there longer then you've probably been alive and will take your money when you make a mistake and to get a good size amount of cash out of them is next to impossible. Also many of the casinos have freerolls for those players that have logged XX amount of time playing there, so if you live in Vegas its not a bad thing to work at.

Excellent site Lepoppet, thanks to everyone for their replies.

Now stupid question, how do those rebuys and addons work that are listed on that site at some of the tournaments?

Can you only do them at certain times? Are you getting the same amount you started with again with a rebuy? How about an addon?

I absolutely agree. If u play in the later afternoon, u will have lots of rich people playing. Literally leaving their money on the table with all of their gold and jewelry dangling from their necks, wrists, fingers, etc.
I played 4-8 limit and ended up winning 200 bucks in maybe 6 hours total of play.

When you rebuy, you get the same number of chips you started with--so if you get 1,500 chips to start, a rebuy will also get you the same 1,500. In most tournaments, you can rebuy any time you have the same number of chips you started with or less--so if you start with 1,500 in chips, then you can rebuy anytime you have chips < 1,501. Most small tourneys allow one and only one rebuy, although some allow unlimited rebuys. On occasion, you will also come across tourneys where you can't rebuy until you completely bust out, but that's fairly rare. Sometimes the rebuy costs the same as the tournament entry fee ($30 entry fee, $30 rebuy), but often the rebuy is less ($30 entry fee, $10 rebuy).

The add-on is either taken at the start of the tournament (for example, you start with $1,500 in chips for your $30 entry, plus you can add-on another $500 in chips for $5) or at the end of the first break. The amount of chips you get for your add-on, and the price of the add-on, varies from tourney to tourney, but most often you should take the add-on as it usually gives you more 'bang-for-your-buck' than the tournament entry. Like in the example above (1500 chips for $30, 500 additional chips for $5), you can increase your stack size by one-third (from 1500 to 2000) by paying an additional one-sixth ($35 rather than $30).

You can only get one add-on per tournament. Because it's a good value to take the add-on, go ahead factor it into the price of the tournament (i.e., the tourney above will cost you $35--$30 entry + $5 add-on--instead of $30). If the add-on is done at the first break, all players who remain in the tournament can add-on regardless of their stack size. If your stack is tiny (you have 50 chips of your original 1,500) you might skip the add-on, but in general taking the add-on is a good practice.

So when you're determining the cost of entry, factor in the add-on for sure, and you might want to budget for a rebuy also. If rebuys are unlimited, set a limit on the number of times you will allow yourself to rebuy or the tournament will become VERY expensive, and you'll need to finish very high in the money to recoup your investment.

Hope that helps! Good luck! Very Happy

Just to add some data. Last time I was in Begas, I stayed at the Sahara and played in the poker room, a bi of $2/$4 the first night I was there and the 11am tournament the next day. The Sahara's poker room is small. The tournament is a small buy in, but then (a Tuesday in ealry May) idrew a whopping 33 people. Only the top 3 got paid. (I finished 7th, and had an eye-popping triple-up hand in an earlier round that helped me get that far.) They did try to squeeze it all in to 3 tables, so we had some time playing with 11 per table. It's not quite a S&G, but it's close.

When I was at the Sahara, the $40 daily tourneys were drawing 60 - 70 per event (the ones at 7 PM and 11 PM anyway--never was up early enough to play at 11 AM). That was back in early June. We played 10-handed, but some of the players were complaining about playing 11-handed one night the previous week. My guess is they go to 11-handed tables when they have something like 33 or 44 entries (or some other small number divisible by 11, or very nearly so).
