Sorry, didn't have HH's turned on, but you won't need one.

Long story short, I flop 4 of a kind. Betting goes pretty standard around the table, me playing it a little slow to try to draw more into the pot.

River comes up, there's a flush on the board but what do i care? I bet 1/2 the pot, another player raises me, everyone else folds. I go all in, he calls.

He reveals a Royal freakin' Flush. Any straight flush would have been good enough, but nooo.... he's gotta go all the way. Even if I had noticed that 2 of the flush cards were connected I never would have even dreamed of folding 4OAK, Mind you, this was at the end of what was NOT my best night, and I finally got a hand I could really sink my teeth into. Seriously, what are the odds?

Anyway, I can't be mad... he wasn't a fishin' donkey or anything. Good player, nice guy. I just got the best hand at the worst time, whatcha gonna do?

Anyway, enough whining. Let's go play some poker! Smile

I've been there before. I had a rough patch where my quads lost to higher quads, then I had quads lose to a royal, then I had a card hit my quads and someone else's straight flush at the same time. It's never pretty.

I've never had one like that, but I think Brunson writes about a hand in Super System where a guy flopped quad aces and lost to a royal flush on the river. That's just sick.

I appreciate your sympathies. I suppose I share some of the responsibility since I did slow play it a little. I imagine if I had gone all in on the flop everyone would have folded... probably. But from such a killer hand I don't want just the blinds or little raises. Maybe it's greed, but I think quads deserve a lot more than 2-3% of the available chips on the table.

It would definitely have been safer to go all in on the flop... but who ever said poker was safe? Laughing

GL at the tables.

Brutal. It's never a good feeling when you think you have the best hand only to have it taken away from a miracle hand. Been there. Lost that.

But like you said you could have played it safe and went all-in when you hit the quads. But that would be silly, like you said you thought they deserve more. You were only beat by straight flush or... royal flush. Absolutely nothing you could do about it, go all-in with quads before anyone hits = wasted quads, tough beat mate.
