I really LIKE playing the $1 tables, not just in Horse but in Hold'em too.
1) Obviously, if you lose you ain't out enough money to worry about. The pressure if off.
2) I'm not a great player in the first place, so I think of these as extremely affordable practice sessions. And I think they're great practice too because you literally have to evaluate your hand against any and all possible combinations. When you're holding AK suited the board flops 5-7-8 rainbow, your over-cards suck because you can bet that at least one of your opponents has a straight. (You just know someone played 69 because they thought it looked cool!)
3) If you get disconnected, you've lost a buck and a bit. Hell, if you ask nice you can probably get it back.
4) It's fun and relaxing, and I don't mind wandering aimlessly through a game now and then. At night at home, I'm much more attentive and focused on the (slightly) higher tables. But at work on my lunch break, I just want a little entertainment. And man... these tables can be very entertaining IF you remember that you only paid a buck for that horrible beating you just took |
