Does anyone else think this is a bull. I followed this event closely on the net and was mad everytime a amature took out a pro. I do think there is a place for amat. but this is getting out of hand in my head. I think they should look at some sort of qualifier event for amatures letting a couple hundred into the event. This also apllies to the "stars" such as actors and comics looking to see if they can put a feather in there cap. Like come on when George Lopez is in the top ten in the main event for 3 days, that was a joke. I do think there should be amat. , and hope one day i can grow as a poker player to get an oppurtunity to play in a WSOP event, and test my skill and luck. But I do not think this is good for the game, all these "fly by night, one time winners" winning big events. A example is Chris Moneymaker. Good player but in a little over his head.

Confused ehwalled.

If an amateur took out a pro by outplaying them, I see no problem. If an amateur took out a pro by getting lucky...I still see no problem. It's just as likely that another pro would have gotten lucky against them as well.

Maybe it's the game of poker that's the joke, (as in, more luck-based than many wish to give it credit for). We have to hear over and over that it's a game of skill and that the best players always rise to the top year after year...but, oh wait, when they don't all of a sudden it's the fault of the field? Bah.

Everyone wants it both ways it seems: They want the worser players around so they can profit off them, but they don't want the worser players to play against them and get lucky.

Personally, I feel like there's a lot of skill and positioning in poker, and if you pick your spots, you'll get through more often than not. But, like any other competition, you can trip when you least expect it.

The pros should be able to adjust their game against any field, pro, amateur, or just plain bad. If they can't, they lose. And if they get unlucky...that's poker.
