Sounds like you're referring to the signature that many people have.
Near the top of this page, find the word, "Profile" and click on it.
Find the section called, "Signature".
In that area, you can enter text, and/or an image. In order to post an image, you will have to use BB code, which will look something like this:

| [img]http://www.tinypic.com/faJIssf9gw4.jpg[/img] |
I think you can also find more information in the FAQ listed on this site.
