this was in a HORSE tourney, not the mbj, but it was a $5 tourney. i don't know what the competition is supposed to be like. seemed pretty mixed. But last time I checked you can muck a pair for a three bet preflop...or am I crazy? it was 882K rainbow. I had Kd Kh Qh Jd. I raise, there's another raise and the button calls cold with the 882K.. flop comes out 8,T,x w/ 2 hearts. So I'm staying in. turn is a Jc. so I have every draw in the book available and miss, we both checked the river. I was pumping the pot the whole way and the 88 was just calling along. Did I misplay this? Or was I just unlucky.

You didn't say how the betting went on the flop or turn. More info is needed. Just post the HH.

I did say I was pumping the pot. On the flop I bet other player called, button called. Turn I bet because my draw increased, other player folded, button called. My question was also wondering if you think 882K rainbow is worth calling a three-bet preflop cold. That would take a monster for me to call, but maybe I just play too tight because it's not my primary game. Would you have played the hand differently?

I can't find the HH sorry.

In Omaha, you should rarely be chasing straight and flush draws after the board has paired. It is pretty likely that, if multiple players are sticking around, somebody already has three of a kind, or better yet a full house. Also, overpairs are pretty much meaningless, and unless you have draws protecting them, you're ok. However, as I said earlier, draws may as well become meaningless if you see the board pair.

Totally agree with you, but the board didn't pair. I may have mistyped the OP as I was Barely coherent for much of yesterday. The flop was 8,T,x with 2 hearts. Turn was Jc. Giving me an open ended str8 draw, Flush draw, and I still have the pocket K. So a K is one of my outs as well.

Hmmm, well then, in this situation, I think playing this hand strong is ok. You are drawing to some strong hands, and since there is no possible low hand yet (unless the x on the flop represents a card lower than an 8), I would've played this hand strongly as well.
