it mainly depends on wut ur opponent is showing, and the chips stacks.
if u have at a better hand than ur oppenent, seeing another is great. if u have a considerably larger stack then again getting another card is a plus, but dont get carried away. if u have a shorter stack then play according to the gameplay and how u wish to even the stacks out.
this is wut ive seen in my play of stud over a 2 month period. |

I am beginning to believe that calling on 4th after catching a brick is the way to go. I play a lot of stud 8 on PP and this strategy is the norm. I have come accross VERY FEW players that don't peel a card on 4th after bricking. I would say 9 out of 10 do it!
I personall don't do it very often but those that do, seem to get rewarded over and over for some strange reason |

after posting this, ive tried very hard to pick the right spots for buying cards. ie buying off someone who plays weak starting hands or with 4 or 5 players in the pot (huge pot odds). i have found it doesnt work for me or my style. I win the most off people who do buy (as im typing this i played against two people who bought 4ths, got good cards on 5th and bricked the rest and i scoop haha no joke)
I guess its pretty simple, someone hits good on 4th, they need 1 card to make their hand, you hit a brick you need 2 to make yours. |

| You can also(often successfully) buy 2 cards w/ a raise or check raise on 4th, even if 4th is a brick. If it works out right, 5th will be checked around for a cheaper look at 6th(cost of a 4th street bet). I have to give credit to Chip Reese for that one. I've had success w/it when used properly. |

| So many factors.... If you can still hope to scoop the pot then you can take one off. For example, if a doorcard king bets you might take a card off if you have an ace hoping for a scoop. But if the king bets and another player or two caught low, you're chasing in both directions. Fold and wait for the next one. |

There's a lot to consider but in general I would take a card off if I had the only low draw or a shot at both ends of the pot.
Against good players you won't be able to raise for cheap cards later because they'll realise you caught a brick and put the pressure on with a reraise. |
