This is from Daniel's Blog i believe, he proposes that the World Series add a heads up event to the list of prelimenary events next year...heres how it would work

A $25,000 buy in no limit hold'em heads up tournament for bracelet winners ONLY. It would likely be a three day event, playing two matches the first day, two matches the second day, and two matches on the final day (based on a 64 player field). If it were a 128 player field, 3 matches would be played on day two.

On that same very day, we'd hold another heads up no limit hold'em tournament with a $5000 buy in. In this event, ONLY those who have NOT won a WSOP bracelet may enter!

*I really like this idea, what do you guys think?

An event for the non-bracelet winners would be BIG! Maybe too many people to coordinate.

i think having a seperate tourney just for bracelet winners would be very cool, and having it be a heads up tournament would be even better. HU tournaments are both fun to play and watch, so there is no doubt in my mind that an event like this would get a lot of attention/tv coverage.

as for a non-bracelet winners event, i think that would be a good idea as well. players like lingren, phil gordon, etc, would have a great shot at attaining that seemingly elusive piece of jewelry, and again, it would make for great tv.

That is an interesting idea. At least Moneymaker would have a legitimate shot at winning another bracelet. 1/64...I think he could do it.

I think you have to be careful in devaluing the bracelet. They should be extremely tough to earn in my opinion. Navigating through the "pros" would be tough, but I don't think it would necessarily be fair to the old school guys to give today's pros another shot at pumping up their bracelet count.

I don't know. I don't think they should segregate between the two (bracelets and non-bracelets). I think they should keep them all in one pool like always. There is already a tournament of champions anyways. I do think a heads-up only tournament would be great tv though.

If they give the guys chips to play with I'm all for it. That poker Superstars crap on FSN is an all-in fest.

No way. Seriously, no freakin way.

This is an awesome idea, for several reasons (on both the bracelet and non-bracelet event)

1) It provides top quality play from people that have ran the gauntlet for their hardware.
2) It almost guarantees a big name finals (Providing ESPN with the big ratings they crave).
3) It should get a ton of airtime.
4) The non-bracelet bracket gives you another part of the ESPN ratings they crave: The volatility of a poker game. Any schmo that puts up the money to play can play, so that means you could have anything from a top player like E-Dog to some regular Joe at the finals.
5) Heads-up play is so hugely popular now thanks to the NHUPC that it should generate a ton of revenue from Harrah's.

All-in-all, keep it the same way Negreanu had it, and you got a great event.

Also, anyone catch the rest of Negreanu's proposed schedule? Not a bad set-up, definitely appeals to the Hold'Em players and total package poker players.

I read through it when he put it up on his blog, and I thought it was very well thought out, and the way he mixed in more games other than hold em without getting rid of too many hold em events was great. I sincerely hope that the WOSP committee listens up to the pro's like Negreanu next year, because these guys are the guys who know what's best for the game.

It's very clear that they do, but will Harrah's listen to them, or to the money being exchanged in the cage? Honestly, I hope they listen and spread more non-hold'em games, but we all know Harrah's look at the bottom line, and so is ESPN.
