| I'm guessing this has been asked a bunch of times before, but how much should you buy in to a limit hold'em table for? |

300-400, lol.
Geez.
You only need 30-50 big bets. You never want to lose more than 30 big bets at a time, so you really only need 30 big bets. But it's nice to have a little extra, just for appearances. |

| I saw a guy plopped down close to $5K once in a live $10/20 limit game!! Played every hand to the river! You can tell everyone had $$ in their eyes!! Unfortunately he was semi-lucky at times and didn't end up losing that much. |

| I usually play with 50BBs when I play Limit. Don't know why, it's just what made me comfortable. Technically you only need 12BBs to cap every street. After that it's just about table image and comfort level. I find 50BBs is enough to look confident an well prepared for the game, and not so much I look like I'm just messing around at lower limits than I usually play. |

| So if i wanted to play .25/.50 limit hold'em, i would need a bank roll of 150 and i should sit down with 15 bucks. That seems like a lot. I really wish they had lower limit fixed games. |

That would be about the correct bankroll and buy in for .25/.50 Limit. They have lower limit games at Party Poker if you want to transfer some money there. |

| Well, a lot of people would say that 300xBB is too little, and 500xBB is a good number. |

well, whenever bankroll management comes up, the more BBs you have is ALWAYS better... it's always better to err on the side of caution... |

| $150 is enough for .25/.50. Play is not very agressive there. |

| I'd say that game selection is a big factor when figuring out how big your bankroll needs to be. If you play in games that aren't very agressive, you'll probably get by with a smaller bankroll. I prefer to stick to 500 big bets though, because I like to play in games that are at most 4 handed, preferably with one really agressive player. |

300-500 big bets is a good rule of thumb for most people....You will generally not have to reload, or otherwise go broke when you are keeping this amount of your money in your bankroll.
Now let me throw this disclaimer out there before you read on...You should not play the way I do...I thought I should put that out there so all of the junkies do not flame me or otherwise make fun of me for talking about how I manage my BR
I generally keep about 100-150bb($200-$300)in my bankroll. I normally play 1-2 and .5-1 limit usually full ring games. When my br starts creeping above that 150 level by 20-30 bb. I will play a bigger tourney or two. I can hold my own at limit poker, according to poker tracker, I averaged 1.99 BB/100 hands the since I bought it roughly 20000 hands ago. I just like the lure of the big payoffs in the bigger tourneys.
I have placed 4th twice in the last month at $5.50 UB tourneys for +190 and tripled my buy in by making it about 80 deep into the money in a party $33 tourney. I bought into a $109 at party and did not cash...then I went back to bankroll building again. I am currently in a $11 tourney at party which is down to 400 people and I have 12000 in chips, a little below average stack, but doing ok.
I can afford to reload. I have had to do it in the past a few times. I just went broke at Full Tilt about a month ago and have not reloaded as of yet. Does it bother me to reload? No, I can afford it when I need to reload. I have a good job outside of poker.
I hope to finish in a big tourney, win a few thousand and try to go from there playing bigger tourneys...These are the Hopes and Dreams of an amateur poker player...me |

LIke someone said, you technically only need to have 12BB in your stack for each hand to maximize it if you catch the nuts or close to it. Of course you want more than that for your session so you don't have to keep reloading.
Otherwise, your buyin and stack size is irrelevant for limit. Whether you have 30BB in your stack or 200BB in your stack, i dont' think it will cause any of your opponents to play their hand differently against you.
Personally, i buy in for 20BB each table i play (i usually play 2). I also don't reload when i get below 12BB, and i sometimes get up before i lose it all. I see players down to there last 2BB or something and put it in with garbage just because they are ready to get up. What they don't realize is that over time, this can put a dent in your bankroll!
Generally, if i lose close to 20BB at a table, its either not my night or the players are probably better than me.
As far as how much to have to play a certain limit, your roll should be at least 300BB, maybe 400BB if its very low limit because of the higher variance. |

| For those of you that read my full post. I finished 234 in the party tourney, I tried to double up right before the money when I had about 12000 chips(paid to 220) and lost to a rather large stack who called with a weaker hand...Back to bankroll building...lol |
