I thought about this idea while writing another post, but it didn't really fit in with what I was saying, so I started another thread here.

I think it's important to be honest with yourself about the strengths and weaknesses in your poker game. With that in mind, I did a little exercise in which I listed the both the things I do well and terribly when I play poker.

My Strengths

Reading opponents' hands based on betting patterns
Being aggressive in the face of opponent weakness
Bankroll discipline
Patience

My Weaknesses

Tilting after losing big pots at cash tables
Calling down out of curiosity
Passing up a value bet to avoid the risk of a raise
Thinking I'm smarter than everyone else

By listing these strengths and weakness, I've been able to stick with games that play to my strengths and limit my weaknesses. I now play mostly SnG's and a few MTT's now and then; I don't play cash anymore. I often found myself pissing money away at a cash table just to "get even" after getting drawn out on for a big pot. Now if I take a bad beat, all I lose is my inital buy-in. The SnG/MTT setting also allow me to overcome my other types of mistakes by playing strong poker for the remainder of the tourney.

I encourage everyone to try this out, and be brutally honest with yourself when listing your weaknesses. It helps a lot. Cool

Nice idea. Here are mine.

Strengths
I'm patient and I don't tilt, at least I'm sure it doesn't affect my play.
I'm really well up on mtt strategy and I apply it well
I'm relentlessly aggressive and never knowingly pass up any edge
I have big tits

Weaknesses
My strategy is exploitable by good players as it's so simple
I give too many opponents too little credit, ie I assume that anyone I play against is a fish
I rely so much on ranges that I refuse to ever accept that an opponent has the one or two possible hands that can beat me. In other words, maybe I don't adjust and narrow ranges as well as I could
I have fat ankles

Strengths
-Able to pull the trigger late in a SNG/MTT
-Triple barrel bluffs
-Sniffing out Cbets
-Cash games
-Knowing when to stop playing

Weaknesses
-Prone to tilt (especially in SNGs when I can't just stop, per se)
-Arrogance (think everyone I play is an idiot until proven wrong)
-SNGs
-Not folding small pairs enough pre-flop in the face of a raise

Strengths
-Good reader of what people are on for the most part.
-Good at getting a sense of who are my best targets at a table, and who the danger players are
-Good at spotting weakness and someone faking weakness.
-Good emotional control at the table, and knowing when to walk if I do start to feel I'm tilted.

Weakness.
-Getting into chats and losing some focus on the game.
-Dither at times on my best choice on the turn.
-Chickening sometimes on putting another bet on river fearing a reraise when don't have mega strong hand even if I'm pretty sure I'm ahead.
-Sometimes calling a river bet, even though I've pretty much decided I'm behind but looking them up anyway just to find out.

And on a note to Suicideblonde. Sorry, I'm a legs man, so big tits might be nice, but fat ankles and I'd be focused on your game I'm afraid Razz

My Strengths

*Patience, I can wait quite long without a single playable hand.
*Not getting tilted by the chat.
*I'm quite good at multi-tabling.
*Patience to study books to improve my game.
*Cash games!

My Weaknesses

*Tilting after a Bad Beat.
*Calling down out of curiosity
*Sometimes I play waaaaaaay too tight.
*Bankroll managment. Everything I win in cash games, I lose it in tournaments later on.
*I simply cannot finish a tournament playing my A game. After max 3 hours I start losing focus.
*Tournaments!

My Strengths

I'm smarter than everyone else (lol, jk)
Extremely good discipline
BRM
Convinced I play perfect cash game strategy at the micros
Mastered the big hand/big pot, mediocre hand/small pot theory
Switching gears in MTT's
Can play super tight near a satellite bubble
Play a variety of games well
Multitabling up to 9 so far

My Weaknesses

SNG's (only 7% ROI over 900 games); Don't like them a whole lot either
Not moving up levels or taking shots when rolled for it. I'm content to stay at lower beatable levels.
Let poker interfere with social life too often
Girls/Women (leave me frustrated and broke way too often!)
Live donkaments
Live cash games (too many donks lol if that's believable)

My strengths:

Lots of experience
Good at recognizing patterns in people
I can think in 4 dimensions. (recognize when someone spots something I do and then set them up in later hands)
I can make big lay downs
When I approach bubble I am relentless and playing for 1st always
I bluff, even 3 bet bluff sometimes
#1 most important I respect and play my position always.
I'm getting better at relaxing after a tough beat and not tilting
I don't let people get under my skin
Most of the time I play good solid Tight aggressive poker, but I can switch gears when I need to.
I'm open to improvement and criticism, I will do anything to get better.
Patience

My weaknesses:

I don't give people enough credit
I bluff too much at times
I sometimes call when I should raise
I sometimes fold when I should raise
I sometime raise when I should fold :p
I think too highly of myself
I sometimes try set farming too much in MTT
I talk too much at the table, sometimes giving too much away about my hand or my style.
I try to trap too much.
I have been prone to not respecting my BR and playing too high limits(improving)
I don't always make the best decision
I'm not always as open to criticism as I should be.
I can be prone to bouts of negative thinking which throw me off my "A" game.

excellent at stealing blinds in SNG
in cash games my preflop game is very good

weaknesses
effectively milking big hands
i overplay hands often
