I play $5.5 sngs and $6.5 sngs and I often notice people are playing a $5.5 table and an $11, or a $6.5 and a $12. Is there any reason to do this? Maybe if you're barely 'rolled for the higher level? Wouldn't it be better to just play at what ever level you're 'rolled for?

for the time being while i'm not backed, i play 10 and 24 45 mans. just fills up quicker this way is the only reason i do. or if you have ~180 roll you can mix some 5s and 10s or something like that so you have the chance for a relatively good score while still not risking too much of your BR

Think some people like to dip their feet in when they are on the verge of their BR letting them into the next level up, or they are right on the borderline of the BR rule for that next level. So don't think its to uncommon to see people do this ploy as they get to a change over period, and more so if they do a lot of multi-tabling where they might have lot of their BR in play. Gives you a chance to see how your play is at the next level without tossing a huge wedge of your BR at it to quickly.
