I have to write a few pages about why i should be offered a place in some universitys for next year. The course im doing is probably going to be Business Managment/ Business Studies and Finance, and i'm wondering weather or not to mention poker as part of the hobbies bit that im expected to include.
On one hand i could explain how poker is like business with regards to equity, EV, risk rewards odds, etc.
But i don't want to come off as a gambling degen.
Also to explain it properly, do you think it would take quite a bit of space, which may make it look like poker is all i want to tell them? But if i only briefly mention it - then its like 'oh so u gamble onloine... great'
so on the whole include it, or BS about some charity work etc. |

| I definitely wouldn't mention it. Unless the admissions tutor is a poker player (which is even less of a chance than AK beating AA) they'll probably take it as gambling. And what TeddyKGB said about risk>reward |

Definitely don't mention it. These universities are really looking for the hardworking, dedicated, and focused student. Talk more about things that will show outstanding character and why you would be a great addition to their student body. They want to know why you would be a great fit over other applicants and being able to know you're an 4 to 1 favorite with pair over pair probably isn't going to set you apart. Stick to what they want to hear.
Oh and its "whether" not "weather". That would have killed you in your essay right there. |

| I agree. I work for a Fortune 500 company that rejected a summer intern in an Executive Development Program because he mentioned that he was paying his way through Grad school playing online poker. |

1. Please make sure your spell check is on.
2. Find out who will be reading the letter, male or female. (for the charity BS). Women for the most part like baby or child's charaties and of course any kind of female oriented bodily deseases. Men probably would like The Police Athletic League. or PAL and or, Habitat for Humanity.
3. If they are of the gay persuation, reverse the above.
4. Metrosexuals?? Environmental.
Or you could google them and use blackmail if you have to. |
