|
|
Has anyone tried to build their BR off satellites before? I've heard that 1 table satellite SnGs are generally softer than their non-satellite counterparts, but I don't really know anything of the strategy differences that arise from the different payout structure, although I assume you play a tighter bubble game with the top places getting the same amount instead of the normal top-heavy structure.
Is this a good way to grind up a BR? Would you generally convert your entire BR to T$ and continue to build up without real cash, or do you convert along the way through normal SnGs? Do T$ affect your rakeback in any way, or are they just treated as normal cash?
I'd appreciate any help!
On a side note, would it be worth buying Collin Moshman's SnG book from the FT store when I have enough FTPs? I hear good things, but I'd like to know if any of you have read it and if it has really improved your game. |

| i would advise against buying a sng book from the ft store, instead spend these ftp on sattys. sign up for trulyfreetraining colin does videos for stox. i know you like sngs but mtt sats have much more dead money in them. you can also squeeze by with close to no chips whereas this is not the case in 1 table sngs. i dont think T$ has any effect on your rakeback. i had 600T in my account and just 12 tabled the $3 90 kos to convert them to cash, not too hard to be above break even in them while earning rakeback. hope this was helpful and gl. |

Thanks cese, that helps a lot. Btw, what's trulyfreetraining all about? Are there really no strings attached? |

| There are no strings attached it is really free. Does not effect rakeback. Just have to earn enough FTP's to unlock some time afiak. |

Oh also the sat's to the double deuce are really soft. I have turned .60 up to 2.25 into 22T$ pretty easily a few times. I should play more of them myself now that I think about it. The scheduled MTT sat's for these and others are the easiest imo.
As far as 1 table SNG's. I dunno what kind of BR you are working with but the ones that run for the daily double and midnight madness used to be really soft. I did grind them to get my BR back at one point in time. This time I am starting with much less so I am grinding the daily dollar .25 and 50ftp sats and the 1.25 45 mans heh. |

Not quite sure what your definition of no strings attached is. |

| While you do need to get X number of points to get free membership time, they do not cost you anything. They do not effect rakeback and you will earn them either way so why not sign up and maybe get some free training if you happen to play enough in any given month? |

So basically stox poker training will be available to me after any month I clear 3000 FTPs?
And back to the satellites...it seems like everyone is saying the big MTT sats are the way to go, but the main reason I stick to 1 table SnGs is a general lack of time (or patience :p) to sit and play out a long tournament. Plus I'd imagine it's tough to get much volume in at those larger fields. I think I might just stick with my 6H tables, but I've seemingly been unable to improve my game in a while (hence the questions about Moshman's book and stox). You can only do so much with free strategy guides.
So assuming I won't have access to stox for a while, any suggestions on where I should go for some good ol fashion learning? Don't care if it's a book, website, or video. I just need to get out of this rut and back on track to grinding my BR up. For now I'll stop being overambitious and auto-piloting so many tables since that won't do me any good until I'm a steady winner. I think it might help to cut down to maybe 3-4 tables and work on profiling players and playing some good read-based poker since that's kinda been my major weakness as long as I know. I could never get myself to concentrate seriously on taking notes for an entire session. F*** my lack of discipline. |

| FWIW stox poker has a ton of free videos you can check out right after you sign up. They have like 1 video available to watch from every set of them. |

Cool, I'll check them out. Thx.
It always seems like the majority of SnG strategy sites and books mainly discuss FR strategy. Are there any good 6max resources around? |

| yeah I bought a 1-month stox subscription back in December w/ FTPs, haven't paid or done a thing since and am still a full member just by playing on FTP. It's a pretty sweet deal imo. |

| zack the great thing about truly free training is you can clear memberships on a weekly basis. so if you cant earn the full 3k ftp then you can earn one week. |
