Hi all

I really like the Full Tilt Last Hand hand viewer. It's one of the best interfaces I've seen for this.

What really surprised me is that it only works for the current session. There's no way to get it to load the hand histories I have on my hard drive. I nearly always play MTTs, and so Last Hand is usually pretty useless for me - tables change often and so I can rarely load more than a few dozen hands, and as soon as the table disappears, I can't load anything.

I view HHs using alternative software, but none that I've found has an interface that looks as god as Full Tilt's.

It seems to me that it would be really easy to add the feature to load the hand histories - at the simplest, it could simply have an Open File or Open Directory option. Even better would be to additionally have some filtering, so that once multiple files have been opened, it's easy to find the right game/tournament.

You've already done 99% of the hard work in making a great hand viewer, so it'd be really great if you could do the final part to allow it to be used much more frequently.

Thanks

PG

I take it that you are saying you really love the interface (compared to other hand replayers, especially those on other poker sites) and want to use it for older hand history files stored locally -- if so, I agree heartily.

But I suspect the FTP devs decided to not do that because it would be confusing/overwhelming for the vast majority of users of the Last Hand feature. (Personally I think if you had a "load previous session..." option, especially if it was "load ALL sessions from a previous DAY" i.e. all Hand History .TXT files from a certain calendar date, then it would be a fantastic feature with no risk of confusion to the average user.)

However for the time being you have options like using a hand replayer that comes with most of the Tracker software out there... also there's the free "Popopup Universal Replayer" that is excellent (but there's presently an issue with it importing the .TXT files after July 13th, it's to do with the file encoding now being "Unicode" instead of "ANSI", I've complained but so far no fix -- see http://pokerforums.fulltiltpoker.com/hand-history-txt-files-are-now-unicode-dumb-t87099.html ).

I see your point, but I think this could be worked around quite simply - have two modes for executing the hand viewer. When its run by clicking Last Hand, it operates just as now. But then also add it to the Lobby menubar, and when executed in this way it prompts you to open a file or directory. Then when in this mode, add buttons to open again and also to filter what hands you're looking at (for when you opened multiples.)

I think that'd be pretty easy to add, because they've already done all the hard work.

Yeah I use Poker Tracker at the moment, so I use that to review hands later. Its viewer is just much uglier compared to FTPs Smile

This.

And as a developer, I agree it should be "easy" to add, since it's really just a matter of changing the source from which you pull the data... Once the data is in there, it should be something entirely separate from the "main" last hand viewer (unless they didn't code it in a way that allows for "2 instances" of the viewer to be running at once, if that's the case, then I can see why this might not be so easy to make available...

Agreed. And in fact I realised the other day that the "game selector" I mentioned does already exist - I hadn't spotted the button that opens the details tab to the left.

So the default Last Hand viewer does already allow for listing multiple games (I think it shows the whole of the current session, or many all of today's games?) - so really the only bit to add is the hand history reader and a button to select files or directories, plus a menu option to launch it outside of a table.

Really easy to add, so I hope they do. The hand viewer just seems needlessly limited at the moment, compared to how easy it would be to extend its usefulness.

Thanks.

+ 1 to being able to load hand histories from previous sessions.

It would also be nice if you could run it as a stand alone program so you could review your game off line.

Popopup rocks (except for the stupid change to the TXT file encoding since July 13th, dammit, why not fixed yet devs???) but keep in mind the new replayer in the FTP client is AWESOME and built right in, no "import" needed, no "scan"... would be nice to have the same interface within the client for historical sessions.
