Table was loose. After he check raised flop, I was fairly condfident he had Ax spades. At least I felt that was more likely than a set. I decided not to shove flop to deny him proper odds, preferring instead to shove / call ny any non-spade turn. What do you guys think of my line here?

| i said shove flop in the other thread, although I don't think your line is horrible. We're ahead here really often so I'd rather not risk a spade coming down w/ your read. I'm a bit drunk right now as you know though. |

| why the weird raise? not criticising just interested, blinds are still v small is it not best just to 3xbb or even 4x bb raise pf? i probable shove on this flop, but i would take my advice with a pinch of salt i have very little experience in these games. I can understand your thinking and reasoning but does that mean you are folding if a spade comes and he shoves?? |

i think i reshove OTF as well. look at stacks - villain has left himself so little behind that i don't think he ever folds here OTF (or OTT w. no spade for that matter). may as well put it in OTF when we're ahead so often. if we flat and then a spade comes down OTT, we almost have to fold - but that just feels so gross when we'll be getting 4:1 on our money.
fwiw i think your lines is alright though. against random LAG's it works well as they will still commit themselves OTT w.out proper odds - like ^^. |

I like to raise too often for 4x, 110 vs 120... I just don't like to be exactly normal. I bounce around 3x at this level, maybe 115, 125, etc. It was 110 this time. I'll bet a little less EP, little more LP, the weird numbers let people think I'm demented instead of thinking about it...
Mostly, it keeps me from getting bored |

Fran at this level 3xBB is a bare minimum imo- you raised to 110 at 20/40 sir, not sure that you realized that.
I make it 150 here personally (well at least 149, I get bored easily too).
Haven't seen other thread yet, but I definately say reship him on the flop- although I don't mind the flat, I think you are foolish if you do not get it in now, if you are planning to fold if a spade hits. Make him stack off to see it imo. On the other hand IF you had said you flatted to disguise your hand as to not scare off the lower aces that he could have called with for the good odds he had preflop- I would be happy with this line.
Given the odds he had preflop, I don't think you can really put him on a range at all, 5.5:1 on his call and I think I call here with almost anything I can hit a flush or a straight with, also any pp, and almost any A. |

Yea, should have made it a bit more to open, any caller who comes along for 110 here comes for 150, but I shoud put more in while ahead. I was trying to disguise my hand a bit on flop, I figured 4:1 no spade hits turn. I get it in on turn, he'll probably call and I'm a huge favorite.
He shoved turn, I snap called, he tabled A3 spades, Qs hits river FFS. I rallied back from 1100 to 18,000 before going down on top two vs guy who chase gutshot on flop and hit it on turn. Friggin' only hands I lost at showdown in 2.5 hours of play. |
