| Downswings are usually caused by bad luck. The bad luck then gets to you, and you start playing poorly, too. I think the best way to get over a downswing is to move down in stakes and ride it through. |

| Making sure your BR can withstand the downswings is critical. I just went on a downswing at the beginning of the month for well over a week, dropped 12 buy ins. The luck will change and you can recover if your BR can handle it, now only down 1.5 buy-ins. If need be drop down in stakes until it starts the other way. |

Yep, downswings are just luck related, and something we all suffer from time to time. How long they last can vary too, and can last weeks even if you hit a few wins in the run of losing. I agree with ABOYNAMEDSUE really on this, that stepping down can be a good way to ride out a bad downswing to lessen the effect on your bankroll. Other than that if it starts effecting how you play the game taking a break from playing is a good step as well. |

One way of thinking that can really help is each time you lose even 1 buy-in you base all decisions on what level to buy into on new bankroll level not previouslly higher bankroll limit. You can never be down more than 1 buy-in because you base all on the new bankroll. It helps clear the mind and can keep you from losing your mind and your money. must be educated and stick to some firm bankroll management strategy. Fergusions strategy is really good, but other BR strategy may work for you. Just have one. In my mind having a fresh start might mean some fresh luck. |
