-5.50 SNG-
Seat 2: PLAYER A (2,420)
Seat 3: PLAYER B (5,465)
Seat 4: PLAYER C(2,605)
Seat 6: GNS1310 (2,230)
Seat 8: PLAYER D (780)
GNS1310 posts the small blind of 150
C posts the big blind of 300
The button is in seat #4
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to GNS1310 [Kh Ac]
A folds
B raises to 800
C raises to 2,605, and is all in
GNS1310 has 15 seconds left to act
GNS1310 calls 2,080, and is all in
D folds
B calls 1,805
C shows [8s 8d]
GNS1310 shows [Kh Ac]
B [Jd Js]
*** FLOP *** [2d 3h 7h]
*** TURN *** [2d 3h 7h] [9s]
*** RIVER *** [2d 3h 7h 9s] [Qs]
Early in a big MTT I can get away from AK there, but late in a SNG? Chalk it up to Lady Luck not coming to my aid there?
Idk...seems like the right move to me.

Maybe - and I'm just joe average - but faced with raise and reraise you would have to think you were up against at least ONE pocket pair, perhaps two - and it was only one pocket pair you might see AK/AQ/KQ etc for the second caller so your odds would not have been great.... given two raises I would have folded.....

But I might be wrong!

1. Play a ridiculously standard hand
2. Win the hand
3. Move on
2. Lose the hand
3. Post it on the forums

You only had about 6BBs left, you absolutely have to show AK in this spot. Unfortunately, you lost a flip - it happens.

If i see a raise and an all-in reraise before me, if C didn't go for it then i would say yes and play HU. But still there are no know factors like agression factor en that kind of stuff (loose - tight- passive - agressive).

Also there is something wrong with the HH here:

But then again. Like said before by shaydrew3, you are playing at least against 1 PP. AK is a nice and strong hand, but still a drawing hand. There are only six outs for you left in the deck and even if someone should show AQ that's one less.

AK is a small underdogg against PP's, but their preflop shove makes this hand EV+ because a 22 to 55 or even bigger PP might fold to it. So calling all-in with AK against a PP is always EV- Ok it's a coinflip but still.

Don't get me wrong here, i will shove with the hand, but not call a raise and re-raise where you need to put all the chips on the line.

Also C could be shoving AK in there or even a bigger hand (KK) cause he is willing to risk his stack into the big stack raiser and put his tournament life on the line and if he has AK you're outs have been drasticly reduced and would an Ace or king hit, you still need to split the pot.

So when two players collide in front of you. Aces or Kings are the stuff you need to get involved. Let them take each other out. Play AK agressive, but don't call with them when lots of agression in front.

EDIT: Just a detail but i see the blinds are at 150 - 300 and still with 5 players. So table seems pretty tight to me. No place to get involved with AK.

you had 7x the BB so I think this all in was justified. You lost a flip and that happens a lot. It was your decision and with everyone similarly stacked you had to be careful but AK isn't a hand that you can really fold in that spot

Yeah, if you KNEW you were against a pocket pair you could I guess fold if you're that much ahead of the field, but even then, there is the original raise and the blinds already committed to the pot. In other words I probably wouldn't lay the hand down unless my opponent showed AA face up.

I'm looking at the stack sizes & blinds and I just can't justify folding AK here. There's 5 people left so it's not like we're right on the bubble or anything. Also, this is a premium hand especially short-handed short-stacked. If you're folding this you're playing too tight. Yes you are probably against a pair but there's enough in the pot to justify flipping 50/50. You simply cannot afford to get blinded down to nothing before making a move.

You don't want to "get away" from AK here. The fact that you asked the question just proves that you're being results oriented and looking at the hand in a completely incorrect manner.
