Pretty damn low on chips, should I have waited and tried to buy a few blinds or was this as good as time as any?

Full Tilt Poker $5 + 0.50 No Limit Hold'em Tournament - t30/t60 Blinds - 6 players -
The Official Hand History

SB: t1690 M = 18.78
Hero (BB): t560 M = 6.22
UTG: t1115 M = 12.39
MP: t1980 M = 22
CO: t4890 M = 54.33
BTN: t3265 M = 36.28

Pre Flop: (t90) Hero is BB with T Spade J Spade
3 folds, BTN raises to t240, 1 fold, Hero raises to t560 all in, BTN calls t320

Flop: (t1150) A Club 5 Diamond A Spade

Turn: (t1150) 9 Spade

River: (t1150) 7 Diamond

Check/Fold, or bet less? The pot was 2500. The table was playing very tight was getting a little frustrated. I always play my worse on the bubble. If I win the pot I most likely easily could have coasted into the money. If I fold I still have plenty of chips, but will most likely have to make another move for some blinds.

Hand one: fold please. Your re-raise all in is barely more than a min raise, so he almost certainly isn't folding. Most of the time there the villain will be at least a 60-40 favorite and sometimes have you crushed. At best, you're racing. You're low, but you still have close to 10x the BB, so you don't need to panic. Turns out you had him dominated, but even if you knew he was reckless (which I presume he was, given he's raising with T7), this is still a bad time to re-raise...you have no fold equity.

I don't mind the play in hand 2. Given that it's the bubble, it's pretty gutsy for the guy to call your all in with 77, even if he suspects you might just have a big A that missed. You maybe could have shoved all in preflop to avoid having to see a flop that you will miss 2 of 3 times and to at least get to see all 5 cards if a PP looks you up. Guy might have folded if you had shoved all in preflop so you're not in the tough spot you were in on the flop.

Pretty much what ThePhonix said.

Hand 1: I think that you should fold as you have no fold equity and the chance that you are ahead by enough to make this worth while is pretty slim. More likely you are going to be 40-60 dog or a flip. If you fold this and lose the small blind you will still have ~8bb which is enough to work with in a SNG. But you will probably need to start stealing pretty liberally if you aren't already.

Hand 2: I would think that an open shove is probably best here as you have about 11bb. As played I think the flop shove is pretty good as the board is pretty safe looking as he probably doesn't have a jack and I wouldn't think a nine is likely.

I know everyone in the poker world is in love with suited connectors, but they are generally worth playing only when the stacks are deep.

I have no problem with pushing JTs when short, but you have to be the first one in. Once the other guy raises, you HAVE to fold that when you're at ~10bbs. The blinds are small, you still have time to find a better spot to open the pot with a shove.

With the second hand, if you're not shoving pre, you'll need to be prepared to slow it down if you miss. If you're going to shove any flop anyway, you might as well get it in before the flop. After shoving the flop you'll only be called by a hand that doesn't beat you.

Hand # 1 is a fold. I love JTs and would be happy pushing it if I was first in but calling all in with it (which is effectively what your doing here) when you can fold and still have 9 BB is spewy in extremis.

Hand # 2 is fine although , like others have said , I would have pushed pre flop - 77s might have called anyway though not neccesarily. As it played out the flop push is standard and is not just called by better hands - I have been called in similar situations by AQ , AT and worse![/quote]

Yep , like most people said . Fold hand 1 , I would just shove hand 2 and put huge pressure on people to call and not have to take difficult decision afterwards.
