Just wondering what everyones opinions on 9 seater 4 paid SNGs. I dont think they have them on full tilt, but they do on absolute. The format for a $20+2 SNG is
1st - $90
2nd - $ $43.20
3rd/4th - $23.40
Iv always thought these were a waste of time and for poor players, and would also be less profitable long term. However after my 10 game no cash run (possibly my worst) and 8 bubbles! I have decided to consider them.
Is this a good idea, or am i just being negative because of this run. I am a winning player with an 18% ROI. So good idea or not? |

If you think poor players are in them, I think its well worth it to get in there. I say play them instead of your usual game for a few days and see how you fare.
I understand how you feel, I tend to bubble a lot also.
But, I also agree with you. These don't seem very profitable in the long run. |

| I agree that these probably wouldn't be profitable in the long run. Probably best case scenario is that they are like short-stacking ring games, in that you win, albeit very slowly. Finishing 3rd/4th is useless because you get 13% of a prize pool that you contributed 11% to, hardly worth the effort IMO. You would need a high percentage of 2nd and 1st place finishes to justify playing these long term, and if you could manage that, why wouldn't you just play normal structure SNGs? |

| I might see these being nice if your moving up in levels and don't want to take as many big swings at first. |

| I think Double or Nothing SNGs make a lot more sense than these. What's the point of cashing for a dollar profit? |

If you're continually finishing 4th, making a dollar is much better than losing 20.
You can look at it two ways: it's either a low variance/profit table, or it's low-risk practice. |

Couldn't DorN's but the same thing, though? These would lower the variance even more.
Plus, I don't think that the lay-player would quite understand the reasoning behind why there would be a game offered like the OP describes... A double of nothing is very straight forward. It makes sense. This? Not so much... Personally I don't care... I enjoy playing the DorN's once in a while at Stars, but it's not something I'm looking for here. |

in general, anything you do to decrease your variance will almost always decrease your win rate.
lessening the amount of money on the bubble is probably a bad thing. a lot of your edge in these games comes from playing aggressively on the bubble when other players are playing scared, not wanting to bubble. when the mincash is only 1 buyin instead of 2, people will be playing less scared. |

| as i thought i think ill just ride out the bad run and do some reading and up my game, im obviously a winning player and wouldnt be good for the long run, but oh this variance is stressful at times |
