|
for those of you who have worked your way up the buy-in level in 9player stngs... i was curious as to where the big jump in skill level came for you?
i've noticed that the $1, $2, and even $5 play pretty close in skill level. usually theres 1 or 2 solid players, a lucky donk, and a couple of meteors.
where did you encounter the biggest jump in skill level? |

Hi Penoyer, I've been playing in $1 and $2 SNGs for some time trying to build my bankroll. I must say that I've been successful but I find cash game the best way to build my bankroll. I'm trying to stay disciplined in my bankroll management.
I'd say $20 SNGs is the biggest jump in skill level. I've played there few times and the players are much better. They are much smarter and they can read you pretty good. I was able to adjust my game to theirs. I think it makes poker more fun for me instead of sitting down with a bunch of lucky donks. I wish I could play in $20 SNGs but I have to stay disciplined with my bankroll. |

The $5700 ones look really tough. I saw Nordberg win one one time.
Seriously though, I've gotten to where I hate playing SNG's. I've played everything from $75 to $1.25. There is a noticeable difference between the $5.50 and $11 ones. Obviously, the $75's are much tougher than the $26's although I run like god in the $75's. 6 cashes with 2 wins out of 9 games played. I'm not **** either. |

| 11 to 22 has a big jump I think. So does 55 to 110. |

| 5 to 11 is the biggest I think...less donks in the 11. Anything under 5 has a lot of donks which is pretty cool even though losing to them sucks when you get unlucky. |

Cash Games drive me insane. i'll spend 3 hours grinding out a nice profit...and then that one cooler hand comes around and wipes it all out. absolutely maddening.
at least in SNGs i dont have to worry about losing more then what i bought in for...and if i cash i know even if i lose im at least getting something for my time. |

Totally agree with you on that. It gets much tougher in the at 20~22. Although , I would have to say the 55s are very similar to the 110 simply because of lot of regular higher stakes player will usually have a few 55$ mixed up into their games cuz they fill up faster. |

I worked my bankroll from $300 to over $1000 within a few weeks playing mainly $5 and $10 SnG. I've recently moved up to the $20 and I'm break even at best. I'd say there is a definate skill increase at this level.

| My perception of where skill levels change the most is between $30 and $50. |
