| I don't know how to post a section of your post on my reply, but you said you were open to razz and omaha. I don't really play omaha, but I dabble in razz. One thing pros say, is that in razz, the better players have more of an edge over weaker players, more so then any other form of poker. They have a .5/.10 cash game now, so thats 240 BB you have in your BR. I forget what is recommended for limit games, i think 300 or so, so you're not too far off. You can play winning razz by just playing tight at these low limits. You can probably find good strats in the razz section of the forum. Hope that helps a bit. |

to quote you just click the quote button on my post. you then can delete stuff between the [quote brackets]. yes, i definately agree that razz is probably the safest investment for good players. i unfortunatly am not a good player yet. as far as limit games go i don't really know the right way to play. right now i'm consentrating on learning to beat the 2NL micros. thanks for your input. i will try learning more razz in the future. as far as my bankroll i got $24.47 now and almost got enough playchips to play the $40 freerolls again. |

...there are some things you can do with satellites that should be fine, the primary example is:
If you just earn money from satellites, and un-enroll from the tournaments, you will have "tournament dollars". There can be used to buy into other satellites. This can compound quickly, especially as satellites are softer than the tournaments you are winning entry into. This is because (generally) you are playing people of the caliber indicated by the satellite buy-in price, not the tourney buy-in (e.g., $5.50 quality players, not $26 or $75). Tournament dollars can be converted to real dollars in a couple of ways, you can change them directly (at a penalty) or you can use them to enter low level sngs or something else you are profitable or atleast break even at. There are people out there, who predominantly play satellites. I've done a couple stints of that and done well by it (I usually convert it back with multi-table sngs).
Good Luck! |
This.
It's how I periodically keep my confidence up when I go on a bad streak at NLHE-9 or Razz-2 sngs... I just play 2 or 3 of the Satellites $6.50-->$22 or $16-->$55, and more than half the time I can cash if I just remember that my opponents probably don't know how to fold bottom pair... I very rarely have actually played the tourney I won an entry to, I just unregister and keep it as T$. |

if i ever get there. things seem so slow. up to $27.46 but hoping for a big score to put me on my way. i'm doing good w/BR management but find myself just wanting to play over my roll. anyway hope to start 2NL soon enough. what i really look forward to play is the ferguson's. but still a long way to go. thanks for the luck i'll need it. |

im doing a similar challenge myself at the moment and i found that the most profitable game for me is the $1 HORSE sng, and im no expert I just used standard poker knowledge and tight play and i've made the money EVERY SINGLE TIME i've played one. If your not comfortable just read up a little on each game and let the other players donk themselves out, yuo'll be amazed with the hands people go out with, and remember the most important rule is playing simple ABC poker, no unnecessary bluffing and aggression when you make a big hand. Good Luck and I hope this is of help to you |

Good luck with your challenge. I also built up from (almost) nothing by using freerolls, especially the 500K playchip freeroll. That game is like turning in 500K playchips for $2, with an occasional $3 or $5 thrown in.
I used mostly SNG's to build on FT, since there was no 2NL back then, but I did play a lot of 2NL at Stars, and found myself beating the game at about 18BB/100, just by playing a sound basic strategy. With good bankroll management, solid play, and decent volume, you should be able to move up fairly quickly through 2NL and 5NL. I've found 10NL a tougher nut to crack, but that's probably just cuz I'm a donkey, constantly bouncing back and forth between autopilot and tilt. After two years of building, I'm only at $522.92 between Tilt and Stars, but if you can develop your hand reading skills and put in decent volume, you'll pass me up in no time. |

ty check out cardschat.com they got freerolls here as well as a micro limit thread that may help your 10nl game.
-any way still reloading the playchips hope to start the 500K by next week or so. but i also won a tournament $ and wasnt planning on it. dont know if i should wait till i'm rolled for a $1 tourney or just take a shot as it not a real $. well i got $32.53 and a tournament$ so far. gonna start 2nl w/20 buyins for my 1st attempt. i was thinking something like this.
1st shot --20 BIs stop at --19 BIs
2nd shot --22 BIs stop at --20 BIs
3rd shot --26 BIs stop at --21 BIs
>3rd --30 BIs stop at --22BIs |

You're going to use the T$ for an SNG/MTT, whether or not you are rolled for it. Unless you plan to keep the T$ for a larger buyin or convert it to real $ and take a 5% hit, there is no logical reason that I can see to wait. |

| i used the tournament $ in the ferguson. but saw a daily $ tournament that was guarenteed a prize pool of $10k w/ only 6k entrants. i was told this is par for coarse. i've since won another tournament $ and figure i will use it in a daily dollar tournament as its the most bang for the buck. |

| so close. i'm currenty at $38.33 + 1T$. so i got less than $2 to go till 2NL. i'm in the $5k academy freeroll tomorrow. i hope to cash there and get this challenge rolling. i may hop in a $40 freeroll tonight who knows. i'll probably use my $T for a daily$ tonight. those seem to have the most value for a buck. i'm hoping to get into 2NL by the end of the month. man this challenge is challenging. |
