Hand 1: Villain is a decent TAG for whom I have about a 2k sample size with. He just sat down at the table.
Do you bet this river for value?
Hand 2. Readless. Is this an automatic value bet or should I slow down? One of my biggest leaks in limit is picking the right spots to value bet on scare cards, and it`s something I`m working on.

| The converter didn`t get the suits, so I`ll tell them now. In hand 1, the 3rd spade came on the river. As did the 3rd club in hand 2. |

In Hand 1, i check the river because you won't get many worse hands to call or any better hands to fold. I have him on JJ here, and with the Q pairing the river, i don't think he can payoff a river bet with AK, AJ, or AT if he is a decent TAG as you say
In hand 2, i'm value betting this river. There are a lot of 2nd best hands that will pay off your set here even with the third club hitting OTR. |

| I probably bet both but might check back 1. Basically the only better hands he'll show up with are JJ and flushes in 1. If he'll get stubborn and call down with A-high I think it's a bet and if not probably a check. In 2 there are just too many two pair combos and TP hands that will pay you off to justify checking back. |

Hand 1 is an easy value bet as soooo many worse hands will pay you off here. WRT the third card of the suit coming off on the river were the other 2 on the flop or was one of them the turn? The latter makes the lfush draw less likely imo. Villain calls with AK a hell of a lot here imo, probably thinking "The pot is too big to fold!" (A mistake)
Hand 2. Easy bet again, probably only calling a raise rather than 3betting it as we have seen a lot of aggression already. Like riddim said, theres waay too many 2pr hands and other wierd holdings that pay you off. |

OK I am grunching to see how my answers line up with others on the forum.
First hand, i think its a mistake to not cap preflop. You are in CO so he is going to think of your raising range as much wider and your 10s definately do better than his 3b range. As played, bet this river--a Q would have popped you back on the flop or turn and there are a ton of hands that will call you--you are getting A high calls, Ax where x hit the board (non-Q) and pairs under 10 that did not set and sometimes a K high call although i'd say thats less likely. I would just call if raised.
2nd hand--always play your sets strong, sets are not the time to put on the skirt. You are getting a ton of value from KT, Kx and a myriad of other hands that are behind--the suits didn't come over so that makes a difference if a flush is possible is all. Lastly, I don't think you have to worry about a straight, that would have capped turn and not checked the river. |
