The reason this is a bad beat is because there were exactly 2 cards in the deck that could have made me get stacked off vs his quads.

I agree with the shove preflop- if not then definately shove flop with an overpair to the board, no way to tell he has quads obv.

The above quote made me break my desktop, and go to prison for child abuse. I had to pimp my wife out to raise bail so I can post this, but she is ugly so all I have is 5 minutes with a laptop for her giving the jailer a quick bj- then she is going to have to be a pivotman in the general population for a bit so my sweet virgin azz doesn't get raped. Thanx OP.

You had over half your stack in the pot by the river sir---- you should be getting it in on ANY river card. You cannot fold away half your stack here, and although the chips should have been in earlier- even if the dude showed you AA before the river hit you should be stacking off.

OP, shove pf... having failed to shove pf, then shove flop. If you forget to shove flop, shove turn. River is obvious shove.

The flop is the reason we get it in pf with the best hand. You're not safe yet, but taking a few more pots preflop when you have premiums oughta do it.

This, a key point for winning in MTTs is winning the small pots, sure its nice to get that double up with AA, but the super strong hands don't come around too often, so its best to pick off those bluffs for those 1 or 2K pots, throw in a couple of your own when your oppenent is weak and maybe get some value out of flopping TP. Letting your stack get chipped away until you get AK, go allin and pray for a double up is not how you should play an MTT.

I agree very much with your post lurgertor. For me, I try donking to double up early on (vs even worse donks, so it has better than even chance to work), then I play tight for a while, and try to get more aggressive when the blinds increase. I'm not good at aggressive play though. still got a lot to learn.

btw I've just played and won another one of these satellites. I hope I don't get donked out of the main tourney on my first all-in, after all this effort...

OK, just in from a $150 Freeroll - the typical way I get flushed out of tournaments. I played this tourney solid right from the start, didn't really have opportunities to donk pre. Along comes this hand, the guy is a total donk, raises are F*ing useless vs these people. Normally it's a good thing but in a tournament, one of those idiots will invariably get lucky and throw you out. Kinda makes it feel like a big waste of time.

The turn call I could understand, it was -EV but not by much (he had 13 outs and already kinda pot committed).
But the calls pre and on the flop - total wtf.
