| It's a simple question, what's the right move, jump straight in, wait for the big blind, no care? |

From a math and money management standpoint you should wait.
It also gives you a chance to survey the table, watch them play a few hands, begin to classify players. |

| I'll buy in straight away, as long as I'm not a seat or 2 from the big blind. No point throwing money away. |

I tend to wait since I'm rarely in a hurry to start playing. If I'm starting up a session I have a bunch of other tables to open and get on the list for and if I'm in the middle of a session I'm already playing at a bunch of other tables. Looking at it from an EV point of view, it's profitable to post in the CO if you're playing full ring and that's about it iirc, maybe the HJ too.
I think what I read about it was focused on limit though, so there might be an extra profitable seat in NL if it's close since the amount of money we win per hand will tend to be higher. Then on the other had, position is more important in NL so that may cancel things out or at least lower the $/hand difference. |

| Is our EV in the first hand (readless) really going to be greater than 1 BB? I guess it might be if you're like on the button or something in full ring in a good game, but I'd rather not try to figure it out and just wait. |

| If I'm playing NL I'll jump right in if I'm sitting in the cut off, otherwise I'll wait. If I'm opening a bunch of tables I just wait. If I'm playing limit I always wait. |

| FWIW I'm pretty sure posting in the CO is always going to be profitable at a full FR table for a winning player simply based on the $/hand you end up paying for the first orbit. It was a couple of years since I saw the math on it though and I'm too lazy to do it again, but if anyone's curious it's really simple and straightforward. |

At 6handed games I wait for the BB.
AT full rings I get straight into the game if in late postion. I wait for BB in early/middle position.
funny thing I observed at live games in casinos:
once people join the table and don't wait for the BB though they are in early position, there was a great likelyhood those people were very bad players:
=> no patience to wait one or two hands,.... I love impatient players...usually these people were very loose and sometimes reckless,...but most often calling stations.....
any similar or different observations? |

Yeah I pretty much assume everyone posting outside of the blinds sucks and am rarely wrong. I play 6max though. |
