In the very first hand of a sit-n-go I'm in fourth position with pocket kings. The player under the gun folds, the second and third players limp, and I make a standard raise of 3x the big blind ($90). The fifth player calls my raise, the sixth player folds, the button and the small blind call.
The big blind raises to $180, which I found curious.
The second and third players both call the raise, and I raise to $450 in an attempt to chase those behind me away to limit the number of players who'll see a flop. But the player just behind me goes all-in! I was considering folding my kings already!
But then four other players behind him call the all-in. Now there's $7545 in the pot! I'm getting about 7.5 - 1 pot odds to call and if my kings hold up I'll have over $9000 and we'll be on the bubble already in the second hand! So I call.
I turned out the second player had a pair of eights, the third QJ suited, the small blind a pair of deuces! But the fifth player, the all-in raiser had pocket aces and they held up.
Afterwards, I wondered about the wisdom of my call. Surely somebody was calling with at least one ace. But, then, I thought my kings were still favorite against a single ace and only losing at this point to pocket aces so I called. Besides, had I folded I would have had only $1050 left while someone else had a big stack of $7545. Then again, their would have been four players knocked out already.
Did I do the right thing? |

| Pretty much don't fold KK ever. The only thing I would have done differently is raise higher than 450. That is barely more than a min-raise and is unlikely to chase anyone out. |

| In this situation I would diffentely call with AA or KK. I might have folded QQ, AK or less though. you did the right thing just was unlucky to run into AA |

I might just straight out shove instead of making it 450, especially if this is a lower stakes game. I might actually be less worried about aces in this scenario since if 4 people are already all-in, I'd expect to see at least 1 Ax, maybe even 2 or 3, which not only lessens the chance of aces, it decreases their chance of spiking on on you since they hold each other's outs. Obviously that's not what happened here, but in general I would expect to see at least 1 player with Ax.
Your hand was just a cooler, you made the right move every time. |

please use HH. makes it much easier to read for those posting replies.
raise more originally. you have 2 limpers - make it 150. after the big blind reraises you please just shove. you only hurt yourself by re-reraising such a small amount. |

| to elaborate - you did make the right call. as you saw yourself, AA isn't the only hand you'll see when you shove all-in pre-flop. it will happen, but more often you'll see hands like the ones you saw. this is why you should pretty much NEVER fold KK pre-flop. |
