Howdy,

Well as I said in an earlier post, have been playing a specific MTT every nite (aussie time), a $5 buy in. Last night, I cashed for the first time, finishing 3rd, so woot - didnt pay a great deal, but for this MTT it isnt about the money, but about learning, and getting some hands in.

Anyways, I folded a few hands pre flop last night, and I am wondering whether or not I should be playing them. Basically it is when my starting hands are all the same suit - I presume the odds of hitting a flush would be minimal when having 4 hole cards of the same suit, and then you have to worry about a paired board? So lets say I have 67QK of diamonds - should I see the flop if it is cheap enough, or even in position? All I am looking at is hitting a str8 draw, or possibly luck out on 2pair+? I am confused about this, so any input would be great.

Secondly, can someone please put in laymans terms what a wrap is?

Thanks in advance

A wrap is like a super straight draw. It's open ended consisting of 2 board cards, and 3 or 4 of your hold cards. Say the board is 10J2...if you had 89QK in your hand, you have a super-humungous wrap, cuz a 7,8,9,Q,K, or A will make your straight.

Regarding what hands to play, for me it depends on a lot more factors than just the whole cards such as position, your chip stack compared to the BB, the relative sizes of the other player's chip stacks that are in the hand, how strong or weak your opponents are, i.e. how likely they are to pay you off when you flop a big hand and the action that has happened before it is your turn.

If I had say 100BB in the cut off or button and there has only been one raise approximately 5 times the BB from a weak player, with a couple other limpers who may or may not be weak I might call the bet because if I flop a big hand or turn a big hand ther is a good chance I'll get paid off and win a pot worth like 50BB (a 50% increase) while I only risked 5BB (a 5% risk). I wouldn't play that hand for more than 10% of my BB, if I was in early position or facing a strong opponent.

With all that said that is just my own personal style there are many people on this board who would disagree with me and fold the hand regardless of the circumstances because it is almost always behind preflop and does not have as much potential as some other hands. What I said before is just based upon my personal style and I don't know enough about Omaha to know if a developed playing style is right or wrong.

As you are just getting a feel for the game I would lean towards saying fold it pre because it is definately not the best starting hand.

I wish I could get a flop like that to come off for me.

I don't like my hand if it has 3 of the same suit but that's just me.

KQ76 is a pretty trashy hand unless you are on the button and its folded to you.
